VR rhythm game Beat Saber will be launching on Sony's PlayStation VR2 gear

Sony CEO Jim Ryan stated during the CES 2023 press conference that the popular VR rhythm game Beat Saber will be launching to Sony’s PlayStation VR2 gear, although no release date was specified. The game is presently offered for the initial PS VR, PC VR, and Oculus Store via Steam, Humble Bundle, and Oculus Store. Due to its various cutting-edge features, such as new controllers with tactile feedback, adaptive triggers, 3D audio, and inside-out tracking, the PS VR 2 will only work with PlayStation 5 gaming systems. Therefore, it makes sense that Sony decided against making older PS VR titles backward compatible.

At this point, we are unsure if the upgrade will be free, but more information ought to be revealed in the upcoming weeks. Undoubtedly, some people will continue to want clarification. For instance, the precise release date on Beat Saber for the next VR headgear is yet unknown, but will hopefully divulge soon enough.

Did you know about Beat Saber?

The virtual reality rhythm game Beat Saber was created and released by Beat Games in the Czech Republic. The player uses a pair of contrasting-coloured sabers to slice blocks that symbolise musical pulses in a surreal neon environment. The game was officially issued for PlayStation 4 and Windows, after an early access launch in November 2018. Beat Saber earned a lot of favourable reviews while it was in early access, and less than a week after it was made available, it was the highest highest-rated Steam. Even after almost four years on the market and a lot of competition from newer games, Beat Saber is still a well-liked staple in the VR landscape thanks to its approachable gameplay, high skill ceiling, and tonnes of official and community support.

Announcements at CES 2023

One of the announcements Sony made at CES 2023 was the confirmation of Beat Saber for PS VR2, though it wasn’t the only port for the headset. At launch, Gran Turismo 7 will also be available for PS VR2, and it will be a free update which has rather been confirmed.  It’s also unclear whether Beat Games would provide a free upgrade to users of the PS VR original or whether the port will make use of any of the PS VR2’s standout features, like eye tracking in the headset and haptic feedback in the controllers. Fans will have to settle for the moment by simply knowing that a port is taking place, and wait for the superlative in itself. Click here to find more on @BeatSaber Official.
