Play-In Stage concluded, top 6 teams made it to Spring Final

The Blast Premier: Spring Groups 2023 finally came to a close yesterday. The tournament began on the 19th of January with the Group Stage actions, and fans witnessed their favourite teams qualifying for the Spring Final. Well, only three teams from the Group Stage made it to the Spring Final while the remaining teams were drawn into the Play-In Stage. The total prize pool of $177,498 was shared with the participants. Yesterday 29th January, the last 2 fixtures were played out from the Play-In stage and with some great actions, Heroic and Astralis qualified for the Spring Finals. The total teams which made their place in the Spring Final are Team Vitality, FaZe Clan and G2 Esports, Heroic, Astralis and Natus Vincere.

A closer look at the matches from Play-In Stage

As mentioned above, the Play-In Stage was played yesterday, and fans witnessed the actions live on BLAST’s official YouTube channel. The Round 2 matches that were up yesterday are –

  1. Heroic vs BIG
  2. OG vs Astralis

All these games featured the best of 3 game series, here is a detailed overview of the matches.

Match 1: Heroic vs BIG

(Bo3 Score: 2-1)

The Final day began with the match between these two teams. The map veto that followed was Vertigo, Ancient and Inferno.

  •   Map 1: Both teams headed for the Vertigo map. Heroic began to dominate the game and made it 13-2 in the first half. Heroic secured the win as they won the game comfortably with a score of 3-1 in the second half and made it a 16-3 finish.
  •   Map 2: The match began on the Ancient map and the first-half score remained 7-8. BIG performed well in the second half and made it 5-8. BIG won the game by 12-16.
  •   Map 3: Inferno was the decider map. Heroic outperformed their opponents and made it 12-3 in the first half. BIG tried to make a comeback as they made it 4-7 in the second half. Heroic won the game by 16-10.

Match 2: OG vs Astralis

(Bo3 Score: 1-2)

The map veto for this match was Inferno, Vertigo and Ancient.

  •   Map 1: Inferno was the first map of the game. First half score remained 7-8 and a 9-6 finish in the second half from OG led them to a victory by 16-14.
  •   Map 2: It was played on a Vertigo map. First half score was 8-7 and later a 6-9 performance in the second half from Astralis secured them the win by 14-16.
  •   Map 3: Both teams headed for the Ancient map and took the match for overtime. Astralis won the game with a score of 17-19.

The day before, Natus Vincere was the first team which qualified for the Spring Final. Now Heroic and Astralis join the other 4 teams as they will meet in the Spring Final.
