Call of Duty has been one of the most successful video game franchises ever, almost synonymous with first-person shooting. Having begun its journey in 2003 with Infinity Ward’s original Call of Duty, the main series has seen the launch of 19 main series titles to date on multiple platforms, with Modern Warfare III arriving in November 2023.

Due to the accessibility of all COD titles on different platforms, the questions around the availability of Call of Duty on Nintendo Switch have remained quite prevalent. Although a few initial titles from the main series were available on Nintendo DS, none of the recent games have made their way to Switch.
Call of Duty On Nintendo Switch: Will The Popular FPS Titles Come To Switch
In the past, players have seen the launch of Call of Duty on Nintendo consoles, but Activision Blizzard never released any main series title on Switch. The main series titles of Call of Duty have remained more focused on delivering for platforms like PC (Windows), Xbox, and PlayStation. Thus, fans never got to see the launch of Call of Duty on Switch, but the same can change in future.
Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has discreetly stated the tech giant’s commitment to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo within the next ten years post Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard. He confirmed the same on X Platform (formerly Twitter) in December 2022 when he wrote,
“Microsoft has entered into a 10-year commitment to bring Call of Duty to @Nintendo following the merger of Microsoft and Activision Blizzard King. Microsoft is committed to helping bring more games to more people – however they choose to play. @ATVI_AB”
It means fans might get to play Call of Duty on Switch sometime during the next decade, with Microsoft completing the acquisition of Activision Blizzard on October 13, 2023. Thus, the Xbox maker now owns Activision Blizzard’s IPs, which include Warcraft, Diablo, Overwatch, Call of Duty, and many more.
However, one must note that the upcoming Call of Duty title, Modern Warfare III, is not coming to Switch. Unfortunately, Activision has no such plans for the foreseeable future either. We will update this article with new reports, leaks, or announcements around the same surface.
