Respawn has scraped the Apex Legend and Titanfall games and may fire more employees

Developed by Respawn Entertainment and released by Electronic Arts (EA), Apex Legends is a well-known first-person shooter game. Bloomberg recently reported that EA and Respawn have decided to scrap their plans for a second Apex Legends game. This information was released just a few days after the same production team cancelled another game.

Reasons for scrapping the project

Despite being one of the biggest video game producers in the world, Electronic Arts (EA), recently revealed a depressing financial report for the current quarter. EA disclosed that it had scrapped several game projects as part of this statement. One of these was a single-player game that Respawn Entertainment, a developer owned by EA, was working on. Titanfall Legends was the codename for this unreleased game, which took place in the Apex Legends and Titanfall universes. Along with the cancellation of this game, EA also closed the Industrial Toys company and cancelled the mobile Apex Legends and Battlefield games.

A team of 50 individuals were working on an undisclosed video game when management reportedly told them that EA would try to find them jobs within the organisation, according to Bloomberg’s reporter Jason Schreier’s Twitter post. According to sources acquainted with the situation who asked to remain anonymous owing to not having permission to speak to the press said that if any team members could not be placed, they would be given severance packages and laid off.

About Titanfall 2

Titanfall 2 was launched in 2016 and has received excellent reviews from both players and critics for its outstanding single-player campaign. One of the best single-player FPS games in recent memory, the game won praise for its imaginative and well-designed levels, engaging plot, and unique mechanics. Titanfall was remade as the battle royale game Apex Legends, which was released in 2019. Respawn Entertainment has switched its focus away from creating Titanfall 2 and toward creating Apex Legends and other games, such as the Star Wars Jedi series.

Conclusion

Many fans of the Titanfall franchise, who have been eagerly awaiting additional content from its universe, will be quite disappointed by the news that a new Titanfall game, which was in development, has been cancelled. The cancellation of a new Titanfall game may dissatisfy players and fans who enjoyed Apex Legends so much. Titanfall 2 is still a cherished and memorable game for many gamers despite this shift in focus, thus its cancellation may come as a surprise to those who were hoping for more content from the Titanfall universe.
