LEC Winter 2023 in a nutshell
Riot Games organised the League of Legends EMEA Championship Winter 2023. The tournament falls under the 9th European League of Legends split which is under the LEC. A total of the top 10 teams are seen in action and all are competing for a LEC title. The tournament holds a prize pool of €80,000 and is taking place as an offline event in Berlin at LEC Studio. The tournament got underway on the 21st of January and it will go on till the 26th of February. The tournament is spread across 3 stages which are Regular Season, Group Stage and Playoffs. Regular Season has reached Week 2 and now it is on Matchday 2.
Fixtures and formats
The tournament for Stage 1 which is the Regular Season is following a Single Round Robin format with all matches of the Best of 1 game. The top 8 teams will then make their way to Stage 2. A total of 5 matches were seen yesterday 29th January and the matches that were lined up are as followed –

Match 1: Astralis vs Team BDS
- Astralis picked a lineup of K’Sante, Jarvan IV, Syndra, Caithlyn and Ashe. Team BDS picked Jax, Wukong, Sylas, Jhin and Heimerdinger. After 31 minutes and 50 seconds, Team BDS won the game and Sheo was the MVP.
Match 2: Team Vitality vs SK Gaming
- Team Vitality’s lineup included Ornn, Maokai, Tristana, Sivir and Yuumi. SK Gaming picked Renekton, Elise, Syndra, Zeri and Lulu. The game ended after 31 minutes and 07 seconds. SK Gaming won the game and Markoon became the match MVP.
Match 3: Team Heretics vs G2 Esports
- Lineup for Team Heretics included K’Sante, Elise, Viktor, Lucian and Nami. G2 Esports took Jax, Bel’Veth, Twisted Fate, Draven and Nautilus. The match went on for 18 minutes and 45 seconds with G2 Esports getting the victory and Mikyx being MVP.
Match 4: Excel Esports vs Fnatic
- Excel Esports’ lineup had Renekton, Vi, Sylas, Lucian and Nami. Fnatic picked Gnar, Wukong, Kassadin, Varus and Nautilus. After intense actions for over 35 minutes and 5 seconds, Fnatic won the game and Humanoid became the MVP.
Match 5: KOI vs MAD Lions
- K’Sante, Jarvan IV, Azir, Lucian and Nami were picked by KOI. MAD Lions picked Fiora, Sejuani, Sylas, Varus and Ashe. The game ended after 30 minutes and 13 seconds and MAD Lions got the victory. The MVP of the match was Elyoya.
