Get ready to witness the crowning of the Pokémon UNITE Champion of Asia
Skyesports recently announced the Pokémon UNITE Champions League through their Instagram post. The tournament is set to commence on the 6th of January with the Regular Seasons, a total of 3 regions will conduct their Leagues. The regions include East Asia, Southeast Asia, and India League. The Finals will be played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Skyesports conducted the Pokémon UNITE India Open 2022 in partnership with The Pokémon Company with a whopping prize pool of ₹22,50,000 INR to decide the Indian teams. Gods Reign was the Champion and it is confirmed that they will be joining alongside the remaining three teams. This tournament will be the first-ever invitational tournament that will crown the champion of Asia. Visit here to gather all the information.
Structure of the tournament
The tournament follows a Regular Season and Finals. All the matches will be the Best of 3 games except the Finals Every game requires a draft mode.
The Regular Season will be conducted among the 3 leagues and will follow two stages.
- First Stage – It will include a round-robin format among 3 different leagues with five teams each.
- Second Stage – The top 2 teams will be then selected from each of the three leagues.
Once the Regular Season ends, the Finals will be played in March. It will consist of Group Stage actions and the tournament stage.
- Group Stage – It will follow the same round-robin format and the teams will get divided into two groups. The ones that will finish within the top 2 positions will then qualify for the tournament stage.
- Tournament Stage – The top 4 teams will then head for the Final Battle. The Semifinals and Finals will be of Best of 5 games.
Split of Prize money
Stage 2 of the regular season holds a prize pool of USD 8,500 which will be split among the top 3. The first position will get $5000 while the second will get $2,500 and $1000 will be given to the 3rd position.
The Finals include a whopping prize money of USD 59000, the lion’s share of $30,000 will be handed to the 1st place, 2nd place will get $15,000, 3rd will get $7,500, 4th will get $5000 and the 5th position will get $1,500.
