Know what happened on the opening day of VCT 2023: LOCK//IN São Paulo
As you all know, the Valorant Champions Tour 2023: LOCK//IN São Paulo went underway yesterday with the Round of 32 actions. A total of 32 teams made their way to the first Valorant Champions Tour tournament of 2023 which is taking place at Ginásio do Ibirapuera in São Paulo, Brazil. On the opening day, previously it was scheduled for a total of 3 matches but as LOUD players are unwell so their match against Gen.G Esports was postponed. This gave a total of 2 matches on the opening day matches of Round of 32 and the winners of the matches were NRG and Giants. These two teams headed for the Round of 16 and they will face each other there.
NRG and Giants making it a win for themselves
The match day began yesterday 13th February. It was the Round of 32 fixtures between KOI vs NRG and DetonatioN FM vs Giants. As stated above, the First game was played between KOI vs NRG and the second game of the day was DetonatioN FM vs Giants.
Match 1: KOI vs NRG
(Best of 3 score: 0-2)
Map Veto – Icebox, Haven and Pearl.
- Map 1: Icebox was the first map of the game. KOI began with a lineup of Viper, Killjoy, Sage, Sova and Jett. NRG picked Sage, Sova, Killjoy, Viper and KAY/O. First half score remained 9-3 which was led by KOI. But NRG pulled off a good performance and made a comeback with a 2-10 score in the second half. With this, NRG won the map with a score of 11-13.
- Map 2: The game began on Haven map, KOI picked a lineup of Omen, Killjoy, Breach, Sova and Jett. NRG picked Jett, Sova, Breach, Omen and Killjoy. NRG began with domination and made it 4-8, later a 5-5 second-half draw made it a win for NRG by 9-13.

Match 2: DetonatioN FM vs Giants
(Best of 3 score: 0-2)
Map Veto – Haven, Icebox and Pearl.
- Map 1: The game began on Haven map. DetonatioN FM chose an Agent lineup of Killjoy, Sova, Jett, Breach and Astra. Giants picked Sova, Jett, Killjoy, Breach and Astra. The first half score remained 4-8, and later a flawless 0-5 finish in the second half led Giants to a victory by 4-13 score.
- Map 2: It was the Icebox map where the second game began. DetonatioN FM chose a lineup of Killjoy, Sova, KAY/O, Viper and Raze. The agent lineup of Giants had Sova, Jett, Killjoy, Sage and Viper. The first-half score of the game was 4-8 and later a 3-5 second-half lead took them to a win by 7-13.
Cloud became the match MVP after his good performance.
Conclusion
Following these wins, NRG and Giants won their respective fixtures with flawless victory and qualified for the Round of 16. Where these teams will face each other on the 17th of February. Well, before we head towards the Round of 16, a lot of Round of 32 matches are left to be played out. The next match that is lined up is FunPlus Phoenix vs Karmine Corp which will be played today and the rest of the fixtures are scheduled for 15th February.
