One of four players to reclaim their World Championship title; Bae "Bang" Jun-sik and his journey to success
League of Legends esports competitor Bae “Bang” Jun-sik is presently a streamer for T1. Over the course of ten years, the 26-year-old South Korean professional player Jun-sik has played for several different clubs. In October 2012, Bae “Bang” Jun-sik joined NaJin White Shield as their primary AD carry. At the GIGABYTE StarsWar League, where his team NaJin W Shield made his professional debut. The team advanced to the semi-finals but lost to Team WE 3-0. NaJin W Shield did not get past the group stage of the OLYMPUS Champions Winter 2012–2013 when they returned to Korea.
Bang joined Xenics Blast in June. They were invited to HOT6iX Champions Summer 2013, but Bang’s team once again failed to go past the group round. A few months later, he departed the group.
Career
2014 Season
Bang began serving as the primary AD carry for the newly formed SK Telecom T1 1 team in October 2013. They changed their name to SK Telecom T1 S a short while thereafter. PANDORA was the team’s first competition. During the group stage of TV Champions Winter 2013–2014, they were eliminated. At their subsequent competition, HOT6iX Champions Spring 2014, S once more failed to get past the group round. Their breakthrough came at HOT6iX Champions Summer 2014, when they advanced to the Semifinals and finished fourth despite falling to Samsung White and kt Rolster Arrows by scores of 3-0 and 3-2, respectively.
2015 Season
S and their sister team, SK Telecom T1 K, were compelled to combine to form SK Telecom T1 as a result of modifications to the OGN rules. Bang was designated as the team’s starting AD carry after Piglet left. The group took part in SBENU Champions Spring 2015, in which they triumphed after defeating the GE Tigers 3-0 in the title game. The victory over SK Telecom earned them a spot in the 2015 Mid-Season Invitational, where they advanced to the finals but fell to EDward Gaming 3-2. After losing just one set all season long in the SBENU Champions Summer 2015 regular season, SKT took the top spot.
They defeated KT Rolster 3-0 in the playoff championship game to advance as the top seed from Korea to the 2015 Season World Championship. They overcame AHQ e-Sports Club and Origen in the playoffs along the way, going unbeaten all the way to the championship game. In the championship game, they faced the KOO Tigers and defeated them 3-1 to win the team’s second World Championship.
2016 season
SKT participated in the 2015 LoL KeSPA Cup and lost to Ever 2-0 in the Semifinals. This series followed a trend of World Champions losing early in their first events after Worlds and was widely regarded as one of the greatest upsets in League history.
They qualified for the 2016 Mid-Season Invitational thanks to their victory in the spring season. Notably, SK Telecom T1 was the only team from the 2015 MSI to participate in the 2016 MSI. SK Telecom T1 entered the competition as the overwhelming favourite to win because they were the current domestic champions of Korea. However, they had relatively poor group stage performances, losing to teams like Counter Logic Gaming from North America, Royal Never Give Up from China, and the LMS Flash Wolves twice. They had a 6-4 record at the end of the group round, which placed them in fourth position going into the bracket stage.
Conclusion
He is one of only four gamers to successfully defend their World Championship crown. A 1000-kill milestone was attained in the LCK on March 2. the third player in the LCK, behind PraY and Faker, to surpass 1000 kills. Bang returned to Korea and joined the Afreeca Freecs for the 2021 season, but the squad was his third in three years, and he struggled once more. The team finished eighth in LCK Spring, and Bang was sent to the sidelines while AF hired a new ADC. Bang finally announced his retirement from professional play in December 2021.
