End of speculations: CeRq is no more a part of Evil Geniuses
CeRq will not be a part of Evil Geniuses anymore. Along with Brehze, CeRq was one of the roster’s veterans; confirming numerous rumours from earlier this week that said he was about to quit the group.
Evil Geniuses’ post
Evil Geniuses on their Twitter page posted a video of CeRq’s journey as their team member and acknowledged his contributions. The Twitter post said that they thank CeRq for being with them for more than three years and that he played a vital role in building the legacy of EG in CS: GO.
CeRq’s reply
CeRq replied to this post and wrote on Twitter that he is grateful for the support and emotions and for everything they have achieved together. He added that he wishes the team all the best and it’s time for a new beginning.
CeRq’s contribution
CeRq had been a member of EG ever since Brehze and he transferred from NRG to it in September 2019. When he joined EG, the Bulgarian was a fierce, aggressive AWPer, but since 2021, his form hasn’t been spectacular. For instance, HLTV estimates that CeRq averaged a 1.12 rating in 2020 but just a 0.99 rating in 2021 and 2022. That both parties decided to separate ways and begin again makes logical.
In his time with EG, CeRq assisted them in winning the ESL One New York tournament in September 2018, StarSeries & i-League season 8 in October 2019, and three consecutive online tournaments in 2020, when the events were split up by continent because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Future plans for EG
Who will replace CeRq at BLAST Premier Spring Groups, the season’s first S-tier competition, is yet unknown. Three players from EG’s auxiliary squads are allegedly on the roster for the competition.
Wesley “wiz” Harris, Jerric “wiz” Jiang, and Jeorge “jeorgesnorts” Endicott are reportedly the three. Wiz is the only devoted sniper among these three. Teams can switch players mid-map during BLAST events, giving EG the chance to try out all three players in addition to Brehze, autimatic, Sanjar “neaLan” shakov, and Jadan “HexT” Postma.
