An Overview of the Character
Faith Connors is the main protagonist of the Mirror’s Edge video game series. She is a young lady who works in the dystopian city of Glass as a “Runner,” a competent runner who transmits sensitive information between various parties. Faith is renowned for her great athletic prowess, especially her mastery of parkour and freerunning, which enable her to move through the city’s rooftops while dodging danger.
Faith gets drawn into a conspiracy in the first game, “Mirror’s Edge,” after her sister Kate is falsely accused of killing someone. To find the truth and cleanse her sister’s name, Faith must navigate the city and its many factions. The narrative in the follow-up, “Mirror’s Edge Catalyst,” is set before the events of the previous game and focuses on Faith’s ancestry and the beginning of her career as a Runner.
Biography
Faith Connors was born into a family of four that actively opposed the city’s new government. Her father developed an alcohol problem, and her mother died during the November Riots. Faith left home at 16 and turned to petty crime to make ends meet, but Mercury took her under his wing and taught her the skills necessary to become a proficient Runner. Faith overcame obstacles and navigated dangerous conspiracies to improve her skills and become a well-regarded Runner. Her tale is one of determination, perseverance, and dedication to justice.
Role in the Game
Mirror Edge’s story trailer on YouTube shows that her job as a skilled Runner is to move across the City and deliver sensitive information to various groups while escaping the City’s security and surveillance systems. Faith uses her acrobatic skills to run, jump, slide, and climb across the City’s surroundings throughout the game while engaging in furious combat with the opposition.
The ultimate goal of Faith is to expose a plot that poses a severe threat to the City and puts her and her loved ones in peril. Faith becomes increasingly entangled in a dangerous web of deceit as the game continues, learning about secrets and covert plans that she must negotiate to survive and finish her objective.
