Gran Turismo 7:
As per the announcement made by PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan last night during Sony’s CES 2023 press conference, Gran Turismo 7 will get support for PSVR 2.
It has almost been a year of release after which Gran Turismo 7 is the eighth mainline instalment in Sony’s racing sim franchise that has been running for a long time. In a review of Gran Turismo 7, 9 is the score that is given to it.
Moreover, most of the appreciation is made regarding the title’s graphical fidelity, plenty of racing options, and the haptic feedback available.
Things that would take place after the PSVR 2 launch:
Gran Turismo 7 for PSVR 2 will be available as a launch title game after the launch of PSVR 2 on 22nd February. It would also be a free upgrade for those who own Gran Turismo 7. There are some other additional launch titles too that have received confirmation for Sony’s second-generation VR headset including:
- Horizon: Call of the Mountain
- No Man’s Sky
- Resident Evil Village
These are now considered to be the PSVR 2 games.
Game’s VR Compatibility:
There is not much information shared about how the VR compatibility of the game will work, including if it would support the new motion controllers of the headset or would depend on the standard PS5 gamepad. This is not going to be the first Gran Turismo game to have VR capabilities. GT Sport (2017) has asked to support for the original PSVR headset, though partially, with the players being limited to a subset of the game’s modes, having a PS4 gamepad as the only form of input.
Gran Turismo 7 – What Else Disclosed at The Conference?
Apart from the news of Gran Turismo 7’s VR mode for PSVR 2, Sony’s CES 2022 press conference has also indicated the Gran Turismo movie, which hits theatres this year lately. In addition to the announcement of Project Leonardo, a new accessibility controller kit is compatible with the PS5.
Total Sales of The Company:
At the time of the event, SIE President Jim Ryan also disclosed that the company has sold more than 30 million PS5 units, and stated that the customers can wish to have an easier time searching for the console available for them to buy from now on. That is important for the most-awaited launch of PSVR 2 the very next month, as those who have been waiting to upgrade to the new headset will also require the latest console of the company.
