Discover the Changes in the 7.33 patch Update
Valve’s release of the Dota 2 patch 7.33 on April 20, 2023, has been long-awaited by fans of the game. The New Frontiers update introduces a host of changes that will significantly impact gameplay and the meta. One of the most significant additions is the inclusion of new heroes. Four new heroes have been introduced in this update, each with unique abilities and playstyles, which will shake up the existing hero pool. Here are the details.
New Map Structures
Dota 2 on its Twitter account shared the details of the New Map. The most notable change is that the revamped map has around 40% more terrain than the previous version. Roshan now has two new homes instead of the river pit, and his loot drop mechanism has been altered. Upon his second death, Roshan drops Cheese instead of Aghanim’s Shards. Players will now receive either a Refresher Shard or a Scepter on Roshan’s third death, depending on which pit he is located in, as part of the changes introduced in Dota 2’s 7.33 update.
The map also features two new Lotus Pool structures that provide fruit to restore mana and HP, and new Tormentors neutral creeps that spawn near each base after 20 minutes. These creeps have Aghanim’s Shards, and mega shields, and grow stronger with each death. Players can now find Watchers that guard certain areas of the map, while Defender’s Gates offer a safer and faster route to their respective bases. Read more about Dota 2 on our website.
New Dota 2 Items and Changes to Existing Items
In addition to the new map structures, Valve has introduced new Dota 2 items and made changes to existing ones. The latest addition in Dota 2 items comprise Blood Grenade, Disperser, Harpoon, Phylactery, Pavise, Cornucopia, and Diadem. Moreover, there are new neutral items in Dota 2, including Duelist Gloves, Defiant Shell Spark of Courage, Gossamer Cape, Defiant Shell, Vindicator’s Axe, Martyr’s Plate and Dandelion Amulet.
Neutral Items are now obtained through tokens that players can use to choose from the five available options. The scaling of Neutral Creeps, kill formula, and duration of disable have undergone significant rework. The new Dota 2 items also include Diadem, Cornucopia, Pavise, Phylactery, Harpoon, Disperser, and Blood Grenade.
Gameplay Changes
The addition of a new hero attribute type – Universal – is one of the most important gameplay changes. Dota 2 heroes under this tag “gain 0.6 damage from each stat, of any attribute.” Major hero changes involve Muerta (who received her Aghanim’s Shard and Scepter tweaks), Clinkz, Arc Warden, Ogre Magi, Medusa, and Alchemist.
Matchmaking has also been tweaked to introduce Glicko, a different algorithm, resulting in “more accurate decisions about Rank gains and losses.” The interface has been improved to include health bar markers and hero shields, as well as display the health cost of specific abilities.
New Outposts, Creep Camps, and Runes
Valve has introduced two new outposts, 12 new creep camps, and two new runes to Dota 2 with patch 7.33. Players can now teleport to each other using the two pits that can be found in the two corners near the safe lane towers.
The Dota 2 items in the 7.33 patch notes showcase an ambitious update that will require players to relearn certain aspects of the game. The revamped map, new items, changes to existing items, and gameplay tweaks will significantly impact the meta. The addition of a new hero attribute type and the major hero changes will also bring about new strategies and playstyles. The user interface upgrades and matchmaking tweaks will provide a better experience for players.
