Participate in a lethal roller-skating sport- Rollerdrome is all you need to know
Developed by Roll7 and published by Private Divisions, Rollerdrome, the single-player action video game, is an absolute masterpiece of work. A battle against foes known as “house players” using various firearms while roller-skating, the game has entertained fans in all aspects.
The initial announcement was made on June 2, 2022, during Sony’s State of Play event. And on August 16, 2022, the game was officially published and appeared on PlayStation 5, PlayStation4, and Windows PC. Since then, it has built a strong player base in a very short period.
Gameplay:
Players here get into action by taking the role of Kara Hassan- a participant in a lethal sport known as “rollerdrome”. In rollerdrome players must perform and execute roller-skating tricks using a variety of weapons while fighting enemies, known as “house players”. Well, this action game is played in a third-person perspective view, which makes it easy for players to look around and dodge enemy attacks.
Players need to keep moving, dodge oncoming attacks, and can use the lock-on option to lock onto enemies, and in order to aim, they must briefly showdown time. And as players complete stages and levels they will progressively unlock stronger weapons such as grenade launchers and shotguns. Gradually they will have to deal with more difficult foes like riot guards and snipers.
Additionally, each stage has optional challenges that push players to perform tasks like killing foes while performing stunts and tricks.
Development:
The game- Rollerdrome was initially a side project of solo game director- Paul Rabbitte, who eventually unite with Roll7 in order to accomplish the project.
According to Rabbitte, the prototype of the game was a mix of Doom and Tony Hawk’s games. The game took around two years to produce, with the team spending the first year of production deciding the main gameplay.
In the end, the team ultimately chose to build Rollerdrome primarily as a shooter game, even though it would also extensively contain skating mechanics.
