Halloween has been one of the genre-defining horror flicks that inspired many other films for years. Having been released in 1978, Halloween has stood the test of time and can still send chills down viewer’s spine. After spawning a 13-film-long franchise, the iconic slasher movie is getting two video game adaptations. As per an exclusive report from IGN, both games are getting developed by Boss Team Games, the publisher behind Evil Dead: The Game.
Filmmaker John Carpenter Is ‘Intimately Involved’ With The Development Of One Of The Halloween Games, As Per IGN’s Report
The director behind the original film, John Carpenter, has been closely involved with the development team for one of the Halloween games, according to IGN’s report. With the original vision, the game is getting developed via Unreal Engine 5. The report has also claimed that the players will get to relive the moments from the original film, while also being able to play multiple characters. The Unreal Engine 5 title is in its early development phase currently.

Talking about the development of two Halloween games, Steve Harris, Boss Team Games CEO, was quoted as saying (via IGN),

Getting to work with iconic characters like Michael Myers and build on John Carpenter’s original vision is literally a dream come true. Everyone at Boss Team is thrilled and honored to be working with Malek Akkad and John Carpenter to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience that fans of the movie and video games will love.”
The other Halloween game is a 16-bit platformer titled RetroRealms: Halloween is set for a release in October 2024. It will be launched alongside RetroRealms: Ash vs Evil Dead ahead of Halloween 2024, on October 18, 2024. An official announcement trailer featuring both 16-bit platformer horror games has also been released, which features glimpses of gameplay.
