Only 2-days remain for the Pokémon UNITE Asia Champions League Finals
The Final stage of the Pokémon UNITE Asia Champions League is about to begin as teams from East Asia, Southeast Asia, and India are now in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The top six teams from the three regions made it to the Finals, where they will compete for the title of Asia’s Champions with a prize pool of $60,500. The Finals feature two formats, firstly the Group Stage actions and later moving in for the playoffs. The Leagues are now over, with Hi5 and T2 coming in from East Asia, Rise and Team MYS from Southeast Asia and Revenant Esports and Marcos Gaming from India. These six teams will be seen competing over the course of 2-days, the 18th and 19th of March.
Journey of the Indian teams
The top 5 Indian Pokémon UNITE teams played in the Pokémon UNITE Asia Champions League – India League, organised by the leading tournament organiser of South Asia, Skyesports. Revenant Esports and Marcos Gaming were the ones who made it and are now carrying the hopes of millions of Indian fans. As shown in the Off The Record documentary, it was an excellent turnaround from Revenant Esports, who were at the bottom but later made it to the top of the India League.
With this, Revenant Esports is set for their second international Pokémon UNITE tournament after representing the country at the World Championship last year. While for Marcos Gaming, it’s their first-time representing India at an International tournament of Pokémon UNITE.
Pokémon UNITE Asia Champions League Finals format
As stated above, the Finals follow two stages, the Group Stage and the Playoffs. The tournament will be held at the Battle Arena Malaysia, Jaya Shopping Centre in Malaysia. Fans in Malaysia can head for the venue while others can enjoy the live stream from the 18th of March. Skyesports will stream the tournament on its official YouTube channel in Hindi. At the same time, famous gaming stars and content creators like ScoutOP and Jonathan Gaming will have watch parties for the Playoffs.
Group Stage and Playoffs structure
1. Group Stage – Six teams will split into groups: A and B. All the matches will be the best of 3 game series in a single round-robin format. The top two teams from the groups will make it to the Playoffs.
2. Playoffs – The top 4 teams will play a best-of-5-game series in the Semifinals, and Grand Final matches.
Prize pool allocations to the teams
The winning team will take home $30,000;
Runners-up will get $15,000,
3rd place will receive $7,500,
4th place will receive $5000,
5th place will get $1,500, and
6th place will get $1,500.
Summing it up for a total of $60,500.
