A detailed overview of VCL South Asia Split 1 League Stage

The highly anticipated VCL South Asia Split 1’s League Stage concluded on 9th April 2023. Organised by Riot Games and NODWIN, the League Stage started on the 18th of March with ten teams divided into two groups, competing against each other to qualify for the Playoffs. The top three teams from both groups qualified for the Playoffs which is scheduled to begin on the 14th of April. This article will provide you with a brief overview of what happened in the League Stage of the tournament.

Team structure of VCL South Asia Split 1 League Stage

The League Stage was played with two groups named Group A and Group B with five teams in each group playing against each other.

Teams playing in Group A are:

  • Velocity Gaming
  • Gods Reign
  • True Rippers
  • MLT Esports
  • GodLike Esports

Teams playing in Group B are:

  • Orangutan
  • Aster Army
  • Reckoning Esports
  • Medal Esports
  • Lethal Esports

Teams qualified for Playoffs

The top six teams out of ten participating teams have qualified for the Playoffs from both groups. The top three teams qualified from Group A are Velocity Gaming, Gods Reign, and True Rippers. On the other hand, the top three teams qualified from Group B are Orangutan, Aster Army, and Reckoning Esports.  

As per the Group A team chart, Velocity Gaming leads the first position by winning all four matches of the League Stage. Whereas, Gods Reign positioned in the second spot by winning three matches and losing one match. Lastly, True Rippers qualified for the Playoffs with two wins and two losses. 

As for Group B teams, Orangutan remained unbeaten by winning all four matches of the League Stage. Aster Army is positioned in the second spot with two wins and two losses. Lastly, Reckoning Esports is placed in the third spot with two wins and two losses. 


Unqualified teams for the Playoffs

MLT Esports and GodLike Esports from Group A have not qualified for the Playoffs; whereas, Medal Esports and Lethal Esports have not qualified for the Playoffs from Group B. MLT Esports and Lethal Esports are two teams who were playing with all-Indian Rosters, unfortunately, both teams failed to qualify for the Playoffs despite showing good gameplay.  


In Conclusion

The League Stage of VCL South Asia Split 1 concluded on a thrilling note leaving fans and audiences for more intense matches in the Playoffs. The Playoffs of the tournament is going to start on the 14th of April with two matches on Day 1. Aster Army will play against True Rippers from 19:00 IST in the first match, and Gods Reign will face Reckoning Esports from 21:00 IST in the second match.
