The Demon Slayerverse is filled with powerful characters. Sanemi and Mucihiro battled in the recent Season 4 Episode 4 putting fans’ queries about their capabilities to rest.
10 Best Demon Slayer Characters — Kokushibo, Muzan, & Tanjiro Kamada Ranked
Listed below are the ten best Demon Slayer characters based on their combat prowess.
10. Nezuko
Due to Muzan’s blood coursing in her veins, Nezuko continued to grow in power as the series progressed. She gained incredible reflexes and healing that allowed her to squash Daki in Demon Slayer Chapter 82. In her enraged state, she even severed Daki’s limbs by repeated stomps.
Unlike other demons, Nezuko is immune to sunlight. She also has the unique ability to regrow body parts stronger than before. During her battle with Susamaru, she regenerated a foot that was able to withstand his onslaught and defeat him.
9. Sanemi Shinazugawa (Wind Hashira)
Sanemi not only fought but also survived against Upper Rank One Kokushibo, although losing a few fingers. He could also rival the capabilities of Giyu Tomiko and Muzan Kibutsuji in Demon Slayer.
The Wind Hashira could go to extreme lengths to prove his point, even slash his own arm to bait demon Nezuko into biting him. He is impulsive yet a wise tactician, using Bright Red Nichirin Sword to block the instant regeneration of Muzan and his Marechi Blood to incite Kokushibo during battles.
8. Muichiro Tokito (Mist Hashira)
Muichiro Tokito is considered to have the most powerful Mist-Breathing Technique. He overwhelmed Upper Moon 5 Gyokko in the Swordsmith Village Arc with sheer speed and even blitzed through Obanai and Sanemi.
How strong is Mucihiro Tokito? The Mist Hashira has the Demon Slayer Mark, Bright Red Nichirin Sword, Transparent World, and Extrasensory Perception. In his battle against Kokushibo in the Infinity Castle, Tokito even unleashed the seventh form of Mist Breathing, Obscuring Clouds, which he learned by himself.
7. Akaza (Upper Moon 3)
After losing his father at the age of 11, Akaza expressed his frustration with strangers and knocked them unconscious. His strength impressed Keizo who taught him martial arts (soryu style). Possessing 100 years of experience, Akaz fused his martial arts with his Demon Art to grow even more powerful.
Further proving Akaza as one the best characters in Demon Slayer is the fact that he fought both Giyu and Tanjiro and almost beat them. He was beheaded by Tanjiro but pushed his will and regeneration to the point where he could regrow a head; a substantial feat only shown by Akaza and Kokushibo.
6. Gyomei Himejima (Stone Hashira)
Gyomei Himejima’s will, physical power, and Stone Hashira mastery make him one of the best Demon Slayer characters. He had reached the peak of his physical prowess at an early age. In fact, Kokushibo commended his physical capabilities while Gyomei thwarted his attacks by using a heavy flail.
The Stone Hashira was able to hold his own against Kokushibo and Muzan. Thanks to his immense strength and partnership with Sanemi, he even beheaded Kokushibo with the Bright Red Nichirin flail.
5. Doma (Upper Moon 2)
Doma is a highly manipulative and sadistic character. He had a cheerful facade for humans, all the while preparing them to be his next meal. However, the Upper Moon 2 didn’t resort to trickery in his fights, overwhelming opponents like Shinobu and Kanae Kocho with pure combat prowess.
As seen in Demon Slayer Chapter 141, Doma also possesses enhanced resistance and healing. He became immune to Shinobu’s poison within a few seconds after growing a part of his head. Also, he defeated Kanao and Inosuke despite both using superhuman vision to keep track of his movements.
4. Kokushibo (Upper Moon 1)
Kokushibo boasts victories over powerful Demon Hunters such as Gyomei and Muichiro. As Upper Moon 1, he has double the speed of the two lower Moons, as witnessed in the anime when Kokushibo sliced Akaza’s arm in front of Doma before both could react. His menacing aura filled the lower Moons with fear and they readily agreed to carry out his orders.
Being the brother of Yoriichi, Kokushibo learned from the best and awakened his Demon Mark after training with him. The demon could also use Transparent World to determine his opponents’ strengths, speed, and weaknesses.
3. Muzan Kibutsuji (Demon King)
Although there are various theories about the question “Who is stronger: Muzan or Kokushibo?”, it can be assumed that Muzan is better than the Upper Moon 1. Muzan is the creator of all demons and boasts immense power. He is faster than human Tanjiro and Gyomei Himejima, both of whom were unable to sense his attacks by smell or dodge by using their instincts.
Despite being heavily weakened, Muzan soloed Gyomei, Mitsuri, Obanai, and Tanjiro. His ability to shapeshift confused opponents while his ability to turn his limbs to monstrous creatures overwhelmed opponents with their range and power. Moreover, Muzan had the best instant regeneration powers out of all the demons.
2.Tanjiro Kamada (Demon King form)
As a human, Tanjiro already possessed exceptional qualities, having mastered Water Breathing and Sun Breathing. Following his Demon King transformation, Tanjiro became the most powerful character in the series. He possesses all the powers in the series: Demon Mark, Blood Demon Art, Bright Red Nichirin Blade, Selfless State, and Transparent World.
Demon Tanjiro surpassed Muzan and even became immune to sunlight, something Muzan desired throughout the series. If not for Nezuko, Tanjiro would’ve wrought destruction everywhere he went and Muzan would’ve succeeded in his last wish of creating more demons.
1. Yoriichi Tsugikini
The Demon Slayer God, Yoriichi Tsugikini was Demon Marked from birth. He invented the Breathing Styles and used the most powerful Sun Breathing Style in existence. Even in old age, Yoriichi overpowered his demon brother Kokushibo, while Muzan fled the scene, having experienced fear for the first time.
Yoriichi is a legendary figure and is arguably on top of the list of the best characters in the Demon Slayerverse. He is so revered as a warrior that people created a doll with six arms to imitate the movement of his hands. The doll became a part of Tanjiro’s reflex training.
Demon Slayer is credited for changing mainstream anime with its animation, attention to detail, and incorporating several historical elements in the story. Fans can tune into the anime via Crunchyroll.
