Solo Leveling has been popping off lately with the anime adaptation and with the new influx of fans there’s curiosity brimming on the horizon. In the world of Solo Leveling, Hunters are ranked from E to S, with S being the highest and most rare. However, some Hunters are even stronger than S-rank and can be considered as national treasures or calamities. Here are 10 of the strongest Hunters in Solo Leveling, based on their feats and reputation in the manhwa. Beware, spoilers ahead!
10. Choi Jong In
Choi is the strongest mage-class Hunter in Korea with his flame magic being leagues better than any of his peers. He leads the Hunter’s Guild as their Guild Master and was one of the very first S-ranked Hunters introduced in the story of Solo Leveling.
9. Cha Hae In
This Korean S-ranked Hunter would go on to become the wife of Sung Jin Woo and later the mother to his child. She was originally the Vice Guildmaster of the Hunter’s Guild and worked under Choi’s authority. She’s the strongest Hunter in Korea after Sung Jin Woo and Go Gun Hee. She has a unique ability to smell mana, which makes her sensitive to the presence of Hunters and monsters. She is also a master swordsman who can use her speed and agility to overwhelm her opponents. Alongside Choi, she too was among the very first S-ranked Hunters introduced in Solo Leveling.
8. Yuri Orloff
Perhaps the only S-ranked Hunter on this list who specialized in support magic- Yuri was adept at making and manipulating barriers. His barriers could simultaneously hold off two S-ranked Hunters and even block off an S-ranked Gate. That said, this alcoholic Russian Hunter had an arrogant and exploitative personality so he was no hero.
7. Goto Ryuji
Goto Ryuji is the strongest Hunter in Japan and we see his abilities in full swing when he humbles Baek Yoonho who was one of the heavy hitters among Korean S-ranked Hunters. He was the Guild Master of Draw Sword Guild and despite his composed demeanor and cunning ways, he was overconfident in his abilities.
6. Lennart Niermann
Lennart is the strongest Hunter in Germany and the 12th strongest in the world. He was one of the few people who were able to sense Jinwoo’s massive army of shadows concealed in his shadow. He’s smart, intuitive, and doesn’t have a big ego unlike some of the other Hunters on this list.
5. Go Gun Hee
Go Gun Hee was a Korean S-Rank Hunter and the Chairman of the Korean Hunters Association. He was one of the strongest Hunters in Korea, but his old age and injuries forced him to retire from active duty. He had telekinetic abilities known as the Ruler’s Authority, which allowed him to manipulate objects and energy with his mind. He could also use his power to fly, create shields, and launch powerful attacks. He was a brave and respected leader who fought against the Monarchs,
4. Christopher Reed
Christopher Reed was one of the strongest Hunters in America. Among the top five National Level Hunters, he ranked 3rd. He possessed two skills: moving objects with his mind and changing into a fiery one-eyed giant. He never got to show how strong he really was, because he killed off-screen against the Monarchs.
3. Liu Zhigang
The Hero of China, Liu Zhigang was the strongest Hunter in Asia before he was surpassed by Sung Jin-woo. He’s an S-ranked National Level Hunter and he ranks 2nd of the top 5. He possesses the Ruler’s Authority since he’s also a vessel and he can create devastating energy blasts with the swing of his sword.
2. Thomas Andre
Thomas Andre, a poor immigrant’s son, fought his way to the top of the hunting world after discovering magic beasts. He is a Hunter with the power of reinforcement, which greatly enhances his physical strength and defense by covering him in a golden armor with black horns and giving his hair a fiery appearance. He can also use the capture technique, which allows him to telekinetically pull objects towards him. He is considered the strongest Hunter in America and the topmost of the five National Level Hunters in the world.
1. Sung Jin Woo
He is the protagonist of the Solo Leveling series and the only player of the System. He started as an E-rank Hunter, the weakest of all, but gained the ability to level up and become stronger by completing quests and killing monsters. He eventually reached the S-rank level and became the Shadow Monarch, the ruler of death and shadows. He can summon and command hundreds of powerful shadow soldiers, as well as use various skills such as stealth, domain of the monarch, and ruler’s authority. He is considered the strongest Hunter in the world and the ultimate enemy of the Monarchs.
Despite the Solo Leveling manhwa technically being over, the above list is still subject to speculation and criticism. For starters, we haven’t mentioned some Solo Leveling characters like Siddharth Bachchan and Jonas who are the 4th and 6th ranked Hunters in the world respectively. They’ve been namedropped but they’ve never appeared in the story. There’s also the controversial pick of Sung Jin Woo’s father, Sung Il Hwan who was an S-ranked Hunter missing inside a dungeon for 10 years following which he emerged exponentially stronger than anyone we’ve ever seen but his powers still remain mysterious.
