Team Aster on a Chinese social media App announced the retirement of the team’s mid-player “Ori”
After “MATUMBAMAN” and “Faith_bian”, it is “Ori” who joins the retirement spree. There were a few tittle-tattles here and there about Ori’s retirement, but Team Aster’s announcement made it official. Though the team did not mention why the Dota2 grandee decided to retire, on a Chinese social media App, Weibo, the org posted a farewell message.
The news came a week after his squad, Team Aster finished fourth at the TI11. The exit leaves Ori fans truly disheartened. There were rumours saying, Ori was forced to retire from competitive Dota 2, as his parents wanted him to do something other than gaming. Well, whatever the reason, Ori’s retirement didn’t go down well with the fans.
Career
Zeng Jiaoyang aka Ori, a Chinese by origin, started his pro-Dota 2 career playing for DUOBAO, in the year 2016. He quickly moved to Vici Gaming, where he got the opportunity to prove his worth and became one of the finest midlaners globally. In the TI8, TI9, and TI10, Vici Gaming performed terrifically with Ori on the team. Then in November 2021, Ori associated with Team Aster, helping the team to rise the ladder. At the recently concluded TI11, the highest TI placement that he earned for himself and his squad, is definitely the chef-d’oeuvre of his career.
Conclusion
The announcement of Ori’s retirement is not the first one post TI11. He is the fourth gamer to exit. While Faith_bian and MATUMBAMAN announced their retirement before TI11, Ori and Somnus’s farewell comes as a bolt from the blue. Team Aster will now be looking for his replacement for sure. But the law graduate from China’s top law school, Zeng Jiaoyang, will definitely be missed.
