* He called out Ubisoft for pricing AC Shadows higher than usual.
* The stream also criticized Ubisoft+ Game Subscription for being part of the problem.
Recently, Ubisoft dropped the first trailer for one of their next big projects, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which unveiled Yasuke as one of the game’s primary protagonists. Although Yasuke is based on an eponymous historical figure from 16th century Japan, his depiction as the first Black Samurai has divided the internet.
Asmongold, a US-based streamer, also reacted to AC Shadows’ trailer and controversy around Yasuke’s accurate historical depiction. However, the popular streamer pointed out another significant problem with Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which few are discussing right now. During one of his recent livestreams, Asmongold stumbled upon the game’s pre-order page.
Reacting to the pricing of Ubisoft’s upcoming historical action-adventure title, Asmongold said,
“Oh My God! They’re doing it again…Who cares about the main character, the game’s a 120..er..130 dollars. This is insane. It’s f***ing…Are you kidding me? It’s 130 dollars for the game…And you get three…Oh My God!”
Asmongold continued further, as he trolled Ubisoft for keeping AC Shadows pricier than usual,
“Look at this here. A hundred and f***ing 30 dollars for the game. This is exactly what they did with the Star Wars. They’re doing it again. Everybody is mad about the character. Maybe this is their strategy. You know what, maybe this is the new Ubisoft strategy. Add in a main character for a game, that’s really controversial and that way it’ll distract from the fact you’re trying to get people to spend $130 for the f***ing game. This is insane.”
Apart from calling out the studio for the game’s $129.99 price tag, the streamer extended his rant towards the purchasable DLC of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
“It’s Day One DLC?”: Asmongold Criticizes Assassin’s Creed Shadows Season Pass And Purchasable Expansion Packs
After being shocked by the cost of AC Shadows’ Ultimate Edition, Asmongold stumbled upon the Season Pass, which will debut with the game. The streamer showcased his displeasure towards the inclusion of Season Pass as an additional expense, which will provide access to expansion packs and other unlockable content.
Criticizing the concept of Assassin’s Creed Shadows Season Pass, here’s what he said:
“You buy the game and You don’t even get everything in the game? It’s Day One DLC? Why do people buy this s**t. Like, I really hope they stop doing this. This is crazy, Man.”
He also pointed out how the game’s pricing has been done to promote the Ubisoft+ subscription, which will get players into the studio’s ecosystem, so the former spend more. For the unversed, AC Shadows, like most other Ubisoft titles, will also be available via “Ubisoft+ Game Subscription” from the first day of launch.
As Asmongold pointed out, the “Ubisoft+” option seems much more tempting than buying any edition of AC Shadows, but it will also open a gateway to the studio’s other titles. Assassin’s Creed Shadows, on the other hand, can be bought separately with one of the three editions — Standard, Gold, and Ultimate. The Standard Edition costs $69.99, while Gold and Ultimate variants are priced at $109.99 and $129.99, respectively.
Now that readers know about the pricing of different editions of AC Shadows, they can also check out the Assassin’s Creed Mirage Redeem Codes.
