KRAFTON India, after teasing the fans for days, has finally unveiled the official logo and start date of the upcoming Battlegrounds Mobile India Series edition. According to the official announcement from the organizers, BGIS 2024 will commence on Thursday, 4 April.
Although the organizers are yet to reveal much about the format and teams, this year’s BGIS will most likely be structured around the past editions where the grassroots-level BGMI rosters will get to compete against successful teams.
BGIS 2024: Battlegrounds Mobile India Series Made A Comeback In 2023, After Getting Canceled In 2022
After its highly successful inaugural season in 2021, BGIS was scheduled to return in 2022, but was canceled due to the widely-known BGMI ban in July 2022. Fortunately for the Indian esports fans, Battlegrounds Mobile India made a comeback at the end of May 2023 and BGIS 2023 also returned with a massive prize pool of ₹2,00,00,000.
After BGIS: The Grind 2023 and In-Game Qualifiers happening throughout July and August last year, Battlegrounds Mobile India Series returned on 31 August. BGIS 2023 was divided into multiple stages including In-Game Qualifiers (for grassroots-level teams), Online Qualifiers, Quarter-Finals, Semis, and the Grand Finale. At the same time, The Grind was specifically organized for invited teams.
Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2023 trophy was lifted by Gladiators Esports. The winning team also claimed ₹75,00,000 prize money. The second and third-place teams — Big Brother Esports and TeamXSpark — earned ₹37,50,000 and ₹25,00,000 from the tournament’s prize pool. Gladiators Esports’ DeltaPG, who is now a part of Gods Reign, won the MVP award and claimed ₹400,000.
Now that Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2024 is commencing on 4 April, players can expect another months-long action-packed season with another enormous prize pool. However, this time, KRAFTON India is rumored to change the point system for BGIS, as revealed by popular caster, Zishan “Mazy” Alam, during a livestream that broadcasted on 13 February, 2024 on YouTube.
