Bleach Thousand-Year Blood War Part 3 Episode 5 Recap
After acquiring the Soul King’s powers, Yhwach unleashes a flood of tiny black creatures that start to take over Seireitei. The Soul Reapers, who try to protect the research facility, are soon overwhelmed by the sheer number of the swarm. Right at that moment, Sosuke Aizen, who has been brought out by Shunsui Kyoraku, uses his Spiritual Pressure to defeat most of the creatures. The other Gotei 13 members are enraged but Kyoraku thinks this is the only way to truly defeat Yhwach.
Moments later, Aizen uses Hodo 90 to remove the critters, who are the physical manifestation of Yhwach’s new power, from existence. When Urahara appears at the scene, Rukia asks her if there is a way for them to reach the Soul King’s palace. Aizen says that he can bring down the whole structure here using his Spiritual Pressure. But he is suddenly shot by NaNaNa, with his Schrift, leaving him unable to use his powers. However, NaNaNa was killed by Bazz B, his own teammate. The Sternritter reveals that he and the Bambi sisters want to join the Soul Reapers since Yhwach abandoned them.
The Gotei 13 all make a plan to reach the Soul King’s palace as Aizen wakes up, and Kyoraku tells him to rest since he hasn’t recovered all his powers yet. Back at the Royal Palace, Ichigo recovers from his lost battle against Uryu and starts planning a counterattack with his friends. Yoruichi says she has a way for them to get back up again and reveals Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez, emerging from behind a Garganta. Yhwach is seen consuming all of the Soul King’s powers and plans to rebuild the three realms, starting with the palace.

The next issue will probably start with a confrontation between Ichigo and Grimmjow. Yoruichi will reveal exactly how she plans to get to the Soul King’s palace. The Quincy King Yahwach will start the next phase of his plan, which is to destroy all three realms with his newfound powers. Ichigo’s group and the members of the Gotei 13 will have a hard time fighting against the powerful entity Yhwach has become. But with the help of Sosuke Aizen, they might just win the next battle.
