Blue Box Chapter 171 Recap
Kyo’s pain deepens when he sees Ayame Moriya with Yuto Takasago, but Taiki comes to his rescue. He asks him to come and eat, and Chono wants to join them. Once at the restaurant, Chono is surprised to learn that Kyo has a crush on Ayame. But since Takasago is a funny and sweet guy, she’s not surprised that she’d date him. Kyo says that he regrets realizing his feelings for her so late. But it’s not shocking that someone who could make him so happy can also make him feel heartbroken.
Taiki tells him that he might not know what to do about Ayame, but if Kyo ever needs a friend to eat with, he’ll always be here. When he leaves to get a drink Kyo asks Chono if she’s over him and she says yes. Since people who are taken are completely off-limits. She also says that even though he feels heartbroken right now, Kyo will definitely find someone else to be with. The next day at school, Kyo overhears Ayame talking alone about a spider and starts to laugh.
After seeing Taiki with Chono, Haruto remembers how they had kissed before. He asks Taiki to play a match with him. As they begin the match, some team members talk about how Haruto is always thinking about playing. They think that Taiki used to be the same last year. Chono and the other third years get the announcement for the Winter Cup qualifiers. They realize this is the basketball team’s last chance to win before they graduate.

Taiki and Chinatsu will talk about their plan to win the Nationals in their respective sports in the next issue. With only one year remaining before Chinatsu graduates, both of them will have to work really hard in order to achieve their dream. Chono and Haruto, who are shaping up to be the next side couple of the story, might also share a moment together after practice. According to the spoilers, Chinatsu’s father will show up at Taiki’s house where both of them live. This could cause some problems since he doesn’t know that Chinatsu and Taiki are dating.
