Blue Lock Chapter 271 Recap
Chapter 271 of the manga begins with a flashback from Rin’s childhood where he and Sae come back home. Their parents ask Rin if he has broken all his toys again. Before he can answer, Sae takes the blame for him. Later we see Rin watching a superhero movie, but unlike his classmates, he could not relate to the hero. After that, the readers see him in a playground where he jumps down from a bar onto the ground amidst a bunch of pigeons, injuring himself.
The boy then overhears his parents talking as his mom cries about not being a good enough mother since Rin always seems so self-destructive. Rin then asks his brother if he is as weird and annoying as everyone said. But Sae tells him that people found him weird too, which placated Rin, who is fine with being like his big brother. Rin then tells Sae that, unlike all his friends who liked the superhero, he finds the boss villain to be more interesting. He admired how the villain fought against the hero without any regard for his life even though the latter was much stronger. He thinks that he would like to go up against someone as strong as the hero one day and die trying to take them down.
In the present, Rin comes out of his trance and finally recognizes his own ego. He realized that his ego was not just a destruction impulse but “Destruction at the cost of life.” Just as he comprehends this, Michael Kaiser comes out of nowhere and attacks him. The manga ends with the two players starting their one-on-one battle for the ball.
