After unveiling the gameplay trailer for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (officially titled Modern Warfare III), Activision revealed various details about the campaign and multiplayer. The upcoming campaign’s story will pick up immediately after the events of MW2 and will see Captain Price & Task Force 141 facing the antagonist Vladimir Makarov.
Players will also see plenty of MW3 multiplayer features, including new mechanics, gameplay changes, carry forward from MW2, and many more. Most MW3 multiplayer features will release side-by-side with the game’s worldwide launch on November 10, 2023. At the same time, players who have pre-ordered the title will experience MW3 multiplayer features.
Call of Duty MW3 Multiplayer Features: Tac-Stance, After-Market Parts, Carry Forward, & More
Here’s a list of innovations, mechanics, gameplay optimizations, and more MW3 multiplayer features that players can observe in the game:
MW3 Multiplayer Features: Tac-Stance
Tac-Stance (Tactical Stance) will be a new gameplay innovation players will see in Modern Warfare 3, serving as a middle-ground between hip-fire and ADS. It can prove helpful by improving weapon performance when operators enter tight hallways and cramped rooms during a match. Here’s what Activision has confirmed about Tac-Stance:
- In Tac-Stance, the “operator unshoulders the weapon and holds it in a canted firing position.”
- The game will allow players to toggle in and out of Tac-Stance dynamically whenever they are ADSing.
- Tac-Stance will reduce the precision & accuracy but will offer improved mobility and handling.
- As Activision has described Tac-Stance as a middle ground between full ADS and hip-fire, players will observe some spread to their firing using the new stance.
- Like hip-fire, Tac-Stance suits aggressive & close-quarter combat situations.
- In MW3, players fire in Tac-Stance by default whenever they are sliding.
Evolving Loadouts
Activision has confirmed that Modern Warfare 3 brings a new set of customizations in terms of weapons & tactics. Players will get to build their loadout in MW3 based on “cutting-edge military equipment” that includes gloves, tactical vests, boots, and more. Thus, MW3 will allow players to customize or fine-tune more aspects of the gameplay.
After-Market Parts
After-Market Parts are an extension of evolving loadouts, allowing players to change or fine-tune weapons based on preferred and certain playstyles. According to Activision, players can change or create unique weapon configurations, like transforming a machine gun into a bullpup configuration using After-Market Parts to enhance mobility and handling while retaining damage outputs. There will be more such configurations that players will get to try with After-Market Parts.
The Return of Classic Gameplay Features
Activision has confirmed the return of the following classic gameplay as MW3 multiplayer features:
- Map Voting will return and give gamers more control over their multiplayer match choices.
- The availability of Classic Minimap Behavior, which will also include red dots whenever an opponent is firing an unsuppressed weapon.
- In MW3, all chosen Perks will be available at the beginning of each match.
- The availability of Covert Sneakers Perk, which enables silent movement.
- Developers have enhanced the Core Multiplayer Health to 150, which will further lengthen the Time-to-Kill (TTK). However, the Hardcore mode will remain unaffected.
Operator’s General Responsiveness
Among the MW3 multiplayer features, Activision has made the following optimizations to movement abilities in terms operator’s general responsiveness:
- Players will be able to cancel Slide animations (“slide cancel”) in MW3. However, Slide Cancelling will not reset “Tactical Sprint.”
- In MW3, players will be able to cancel the partial Reloads during an animation (“reload cancel”) and return fire immediately.
- Developers have made mantling faster in MW3, and players can Mantle while Sprinting.
- One will be able to fire during and immediately after sliding in a MW3 match.
- Developers have enhanced the Tactical Sprint durations, but the exact duration will depend on the weapon players use.
- The Tactical Sprint will recharge while the operator is printing.
Carry Forward
The following MW3 multiplayer features will carry forward from Modern Warfare 2:
- Activision has confirmed that all MW2 weapons, attachments, and unlocks will Carry Forward. Moreover, seamless functionality will be between new attachments (introduced in Modern Warfare 3) and global Weapon Platforms.
- Developers have confirmed that the MW2 attachments, considered “universal,” will be available to attach to MW3 weapons, wherever applicable.
- Some of the MW2 weapons that will carry forward into MW3 will be able to equip the attachments featured in the latter, wherever applicable.
- Developers have enhanced the number of Weapon Platforms (also known as “Receivers”) for some categories. It implies that the restrictions on weapon customization have been reduced and will allow players to add core attachments to their favorite MW2 weapons.
