After years of delay due to publishing disputes, Captain Blood is finally getting a launch in Fall 2024. The pirate-themed game has been developed by Seawolf Studio and General Arcade, while SNEG is serving the role of publisher. For the uninitiated, Captain Blood underwent development in the 2000s and was last showcased in 2010.
Despite being a promising hack and slash pirate action adventure, the game didn’t see the light of the day and was almost lost. Ultimately, SNEG Ltd., a studio focused on preserving forgotten titles, revived it more than a decade later. The game will now launch across multiple platforms – consoles and PC – later this year.
Captain Blood To Bring Classic Pirate Adventure Across PS5, Windows, Xbox X/S, And Multiple Other Consoles
Captain Blood is scheduled to arrive on Windows PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, alongside the new-gen consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. At the same time, the game will also make its way to Nintendo Switch consoles, as confirmed by the publishers. The pirate adventure game was initially developed during the 2000s, but has received some modern improvements for an optimized gaming experience on new-gen consoles.
What Is Captain Blood About?
SNEG Ltd.’s upcoming offering is a pirate-themed action game with a 17th century setting in Spanish Main. The game has a lot to offer including hand-to-hand combat, multiple ‘hack and slash’ fighting techniques, a packed arsenal, a graphic novel-like art style, ship deck brawls, and more.
The game is set during the golden age of piracy and players will get to use era-specific weapons like cutlasses, pistols, muskets, throwing knives, and hand bombs. More importantly, one will get to play the titular role of Captain Blood, who is seeking ‘gold and glory.’
For the unversed, the game’s page on Steam is live now, and players can wishlist it. They can also follow @captbloodgame on X to remain up-to-date with future announcements around the title.
That concludes our coverage around SNEG Ltd.’s forthcoming pirate game, but fans can also check out the Metroidvania-Lite Cooking Game Magical Delicacy, which is arriving this summer.
