Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty will be the first downloadable content in the futuristic sci-fi RPG developed by CD Projekt Red. It will be a storyline expansion primarily based on espionage and shooting. Moreover, the DLC will take off after the Update 2.0 introduced on September 21, 2023.
As per the new update, Cyberpunk will not run on Hard Disk Drives (HDD) and will need a Solid Stated Drive (SSD). Gameplay has been improved, a revamped perk system has been introduced and police have become faster and smarter. Players can also engage in car combat – which could feature more during the Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty DLC.
During an Xbox Showcase in June, CDPR revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty will be available for download on September 26, 2023. Releasing it after the 2.0 Update is a major plus since players will experience fewer glitches and lag issues, and will have the necessary RAM to run the DLC smoothly. Phantom Liberty takes place in the main story and is not a separate arc.
Game Director Gabe Amantagelo mentioned that Phantom Liberty will have different endings based on the choices a player makes. This makes it substantially more interesting since it is connected to the main story and could affect the base ending. Play wisely.
Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Platforms and Gameplay
Last year, CD Projekt Red dropped the bombshell that support for last-gen consoles like PlayStation 4 and Xbox One had expired. They won’t be receiving the Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty. The DLC will be available only on the current-gen consoles, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and on PC.
Phantom Liberty will take place in the Dogtown district in Night City. Thus, to access the DLC, players need to unlock the region, which is estimated to take at least 10 hours. They will also become familiar with the combat styles by that time and choose their builds, such as Ninja, Netrunner, or Solo Slammer.
According to the official trailer, Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty will make players step in the shoes of V to protect President Myers after a spacecraft disaster. They will be working under the orders of NUSA (New United States of America) agent Netrunner Songbird. Later in the DLC, NUSA sleeper agents Solomon Reed (Idris Elba) and Alex Xenakis join the main character. Colonel Curt Hansen and his army of Barghest soldiers will be the antagonists of Phantom Liberty.
How Much Will Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Cost?
Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty downloadable content will cost $29.99 on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on pre-orders. PC gamers can purchase it for the same price on Steam or Epic Games Store. Note that you will require the base game to run the DLC.
Bundles are also available. The PS5 version costs $70.99 while the Xbox version costs $35.99 due to a limited-time sale. It includes both the Liberty DLC pack, the base game, and some additional rewards.
