Dandadan Chapter 173 Recap
Momo injures the girl called Kouki who was using the pygmies to attack them. She then throws the fire extinguisher to stop the fire which the pygmies had started. In front of Momo’s power, the tiny creatures surrender and start waving the white flag. This frees up Aira and Okarun, who were stuck on the floor. When the trio starts talking about what to do next, the pygmies start carrying Kouki’s unconscious body out of the room. Momo tries to stop them with her powers and Aira also helps her.
Outside the room, Jiji, Kinta, and Vamola deduce that their friends must have entered Empty Space. With Jiji’s suggestion, Vamola puts on her kaiju suit, promptly getting them access to Empty Space. Just then, Kouki and the pygmies burst out of the room with Momo and the others chasing them. Kinta uses the nanoskin fragments to create a tiny place with which he can keep up with the pygmies. Unfortunately, he gets hit in the face with a bat before he can capture Kouki. The group sees the school nurse Joo standing there with a baton and asking if they are bullying the girl.

This is not the first time the school nurse has appeared in the manga. However, since she can access Empty Space, Joo is likely also someone with spiritual powers. If she is on Kouki’s side, Jiji, Vamola, and the others will have to face her in the next issue. However, if they’re able to explain how Kouki tried to kill Momo, she might become their ally against the girl.
