Highlights:
*Sukuna’s fate in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 268 is a bit ambiguous.
*Chapter spoilers did not clarify what happened to the villain.
The spoilers for JJK manga chapter 268 came out today and it was underwhelming, to say the least. After the return of Nobara Kugisaki, fans thought another great battle between Yuji and Sukuna would take place. However, Sukuna’s ultimate defeat fell a little flat and was kind of pathetic. But the main question fans have is, “Does Sukuna die in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 268?”
Sukuna’s Defeat Begins With Nobara’s Attack
As readers saw in chapter 267, Nobara makes a shocking comeback to the story and immediately gets to work. She uses her Resonance technique to launch an attack on Ryomen Sukuna’s soul using his last finger. This stops Sukuna from opening his domain and gives Yuji the opening to hit him with another Black Flash. In the chapter 268 spoilers, Sukuna asks Megumi to give up control of his body to him. But Megumi finally wakes up from his bleak slumber and says that he would like to live for someone else.
After this, Sukuna is almost literally ripped away from Fushiguro’s body when Yuji attacks him one more time. Yuji’s domain also crumbles and we see that Sukuna has turned into a small and pathetic-looking curse since he now has no body to possess. Uraume stops her fight with Hakari when she realizes that Sukuna has lost. She tells Hakari that the only reason Sukuna lost is because he is a reincarnated Curse and does not have his own body. She too, gives up on fighting her opponent and we see her body disintegrate along with her ice powers. But unlike her, Sukuna’s death was not very clear from the spoilers.
Yuji Offers Sukuna A Chance To Live
The most surprising thing about the chapter was Yuji not ending Sukuna’s life. As Megumi said, with just one finger remaining, Sukuna does not really have any power right now. After being ripped away from Fushiguro’s body, his corporeal remains are small and weak. But instead of upright killing him, Yuji offers Sukuna a chance to live on. The protagonist says that being born with a curse means turning into a monster is a matter of fate. However, since Megumi is safe now, Sukuna can live on as a part of Yuji. Sukuna seems to be really angry about this proposal and tells Itadori to not forget that he is after-all, a Curse.
Unfortunately, we don’t really get to see if Sukuna takes Itadori up on his bizarre offer. Fans were disappointed to see how Sukuna’s arc ended after such a long-lasting battle. The mangaka Gege Akutami has a habit of bringing back characters after apparently killing them, much like what he did with Nobara and Kusakabe. This is making fans think that maybe we will find out that Sukuna and Yuji are sharing the same body again in the last chapter. The proper translations of the chapter might also shed some light on the reason behind Yuji’s decision to let Sukuna live after all the destruction he has caused. Everyone seems to think that it was not a fitting end for one of the best villains in anime history. The manga still has three more chapters to go and the protagonist and his allies are getting ready to rescue Yuta Okkotsu.
