Enshrouded ‘Not Enough System Memory Available’ Error is a known issue that was addressed in the first patch update of the open-world game. It continues to affect players and has a few temporary fixes alongside a permanent fix. This guide will tell you about each fix in detail.
Keen Games has made multiple gameplay and work changes in Version 0.7.0.1. Most of the known bugs have also been fixed alongside stability improvements. Regarding the ‘Not Enough System Memory Available,’ the devs warned that low-spec computers won’t be able to run the game after future updates bring more features.
Reasons For Enshrouded ‘Not Enough System Memory Available’
The error message ‘Not Enough System Memory Available’ in Enshrouded is triggered when the game requires more Random-Access Memory (RAM) than that contained by a player’s computer device. According to the system requirements page on Steam, the game requires 16 GB RAM space similar to most modern-day games.
PC players with 8 GB RAM can still play the game by bypassing the RAM check. However, it isn’t a complete fix for the problem. The gameplay will be hindered due to constant crashes and gamers may keep encountering the ‘Not Enough System Memory Available’ error.
How To Fix Enshrouded ‘Not Enough System Memory Available’ Error
Below are the fixes for the ‘Not Enough System Memory Available’ Error:-
1. Bypass the RAM Check
Steam users can bypass the RAM check to continue playing the game. As aforementioned, this isn’t a permanent fix but will get rid of the annoying pop-up error message for good.
- Right-click on Enshrouded in the Steam Library. The Library shows all your installed games.
- Select Properties. In the pop-up window, choose Launch Options located under the General settings.
- Type –disable-ram-check in the box given below to skip the RAM check.
- The settings will save automatically. Launch Enshrouded to check if the error persists.
‘Not Enough System Memory Available’ Error can also affect players that have the required memory space (16 GB or 32 GB RAM). It is solved once you type in the “–disable-ram-check” command.
2. Increase the Computer RAM
You can physically install more RAM into your computer. The more Random-Access Memory a system has, the more efficiently it can multitask with background applications. You can check the available memory in your Windows 11 device by navigating to Settings –> System –> About –> Device Specifications. The option to check RAM is located under the Installed RAM section.
3. Disable Background Applications
Even after meeting the RAM requirements of Enshrouded, players can get the ‘Not Enough System Memory Available’ error message due to ongoing background applications. These apps consume RAM and affect the gameplay. You can close these applications by opening the Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) and right-clicking the apps you want to disable.
4. Lower In-Game Resolution, Anti-Aliasing, And Other Settings
To save RAM and boost the game’s performance, players can reduce the resolution, anti-aliasing, texture quality, and graphics in Enshrouded. Keen Games uses the Holistic engine, an engine they created themselves, which is more flexible than the demanding engines like Unreal Engine 4 or 5. Adjusting some of the settings can fix the Enshrouded ‘Not Enough System Memory Available’ Error but it will reduce the visual qualities of the game.
Not only does Enshrouded require strategic combat skills to survive but it also requires clever use of Fast Travel, resources, and items that can buff your character before undertaking a challenge. You can find some useful tips in our Enshrouded Beginners’ Guide.
