One of the longest-running PC video game series of all time, Microsoft Flight Simulator
Microsoft Flight Simulator is Microsoft’s longest-running software product line. It was a revolutionary Microsoft application that stood out greatly from the company’s other software, which was primarily business-focused. A version of Flight Simulator for the IBM PC was licenced by Artwick’s business to Microsoft in 1982, who branded it as Microsoft Flight Simulator 1.0. Microsoft unveiled a brand-new game at E3 in 2019 with the simple title Microsoft Flight Simulator, which premiered on PC first and was transferred to the Xbox Series X later.

Where it all started?
In 2014, Microsoft granted Dovetail Games permission to publish Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition and port Flight Simulator X Gold Edition to Steam. Microsoft unveiled a brand-new game at E3 in 2019 with the simple title Microsoft Flight Simulator, which premiered on PC first and was transferred to the Xbox Series X later. Microsoft announced the availability of Microsoft Flight Simulator for PC on August 18, 2020, and started preorders on July 12, 2020. The publisher revealed three distinct versions of the game: normal, deluxe, and premium deluxe. Each offers a different range of gaming options, including a variety of airports and aircraft. The release day for the Xbox version was July 27, 2021.
Add-ons in Microsoft Flight Simulator
A text editor resembling “Notepad” or simple algorithms is often used to change the cockpit layout, cockpit graphics, aircraft model, aircraft model textures, aircraft flying characteristics, scenery designs, scenery configurations, and scenery fabrics of Flight Simulator aircraft.
Devoted “flight simmers” have successfully connected Flight Simulator to homebuilt gear, some of which rivals the sophistication of professional full-motion flight simulators, by exploiting the program’s extensive add-on tools.
Realistic control panels and gauges, navigation tools, passenger simulation, cameras that can see aircraft or surroundings from any angle, and other add-ons are accessible. Some tools, like FSUIPC, only offer helpful modifications for the simulator to get around problems or design flaws or to enable a more extensive interface with other third-party add-ons. Some add-ons occasionally need other utility add-ons to function properly with the simulator.
Awards
Guinness World Records awarded the Microsoft Flight Simulator series, seven world records for its accomplishment in the Guinness World Records: Gamer’s Edition 2008 book. These records include “Most Expensive Home Flight Simulator Cockpit,” which was constructed by Australian trucking entrepreneur Matthew Sheil, and “Longest Running Flight Sim Series,” “Most Successful Flight Simulator Series”.
Conclusion
Freeware add-on components for the simulation model are widely available online, which has facilitated the growth of a sizable and diversified virtual community that is connected by discussion boards for design teams and enthusiasts, online multiplayer flying, and “virtual airlines.” The ability to obtain “payware” add-ons for the simulator has also been made possible via the internet, which lowers the cost of distribution.
