Three years after the beginning of the original manga, Flower and Asura is getting an anime adaptation. Ayano Takeda’s coming-of-age series will be animated by Studio Bind, the Japanese studio behind Mushoku Tensei. It is scheduled to be broadcast in Japan in 2025.
Flower and Asura Anime Confirmed By Latest Teaser
The revelation of a Flower and Asura anime, also known as Hana wa Saku, Shura no Gotoku in Japan, was provided in the form of a teaser visual. The visual shows the cheerful main characters Kana and Mizuki running on a footpath with cherry blossom petals falling around them.
Fans got a glimpse of the beautiful Tonakijima Island that will act as the setting for the anime. Based on the original story by Ayano Takeda, Flower and Asura depicts the tale of Hana Haruyama, a first-year high school student who has a passion for recitation. Her talent is noted by the president of the broadcasting club, Mizuki Urasai. The story then takes off, featuring Mizuki and Hana’s efforts to make the latter deepen her love for reading through various experiences.
According to Comic Natalie, Ayano Takeda was immensely happy after the news of an anime adaptation as it would allow her “to see everyone alive and actually hear their voices.” The writer wants to “feel the lives” of the fictional characters she has created. Apart from the Flower and Asura anime visual, the main cast of the adaption has been revealed. Hana Haruyama will be voiced by Minori Fujidera whereas Mizuki Usurai will be voiced by Miyuri Shimabukuro, who played The Blacksmith in Re:Monster. Ayumu Uwano will be the director of the series.
Serialization of the Flower and Asura manga began in 2021. There have been six volumes in the series so far and the seventh is scheduled to arrive on June 19, 2024. By the time the anime rolls out on screen in 2025, the original manga could be completed.
