Highlights:
* Fortnite items such as skins, back blings, and emotes, will no longer be exclusive in a Battle Pass. These items could be purchased from the Item Shop.
* Items will appear in the shop at least 18 months after a Battle Pass expires.
EPIC Games has decided to end its tradition of keeping items exclusive to the Fortnite Battle Pass. On August 7, the developers announced that they are going to introduce BP cosmetics to the Item Shop. This major change will enable both beginners and veterans to purchase some of the most iconic items from the previous battle passes.
Fortnite Battle Pass Item Exclusivity Changed By EPIC Games In A Massive Player-Friendly Move
Prized items that could solely be obtained from the free or premium battle passes in the past will be appearing in the Fortnite Shop. In the FAQ section, EPIC Games clarified that the items in question include Outfits, Back Blings, Pickaxes, Emotes, Instruments, Decals, Wraps, Loading Screens, Banner Icons, and others. However, there are certain limitations imposed on the items.
Fortnite Battle Pass items will appear in the Item Shop after a minimum of 18 months from the date of expiration of the pass. For instance, some of the items in the Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 Wrecked Battle Pass will appear in 2026. Those items in the Bonus Rewards and Quest Rewards sections of the pass will also feature in the shop after 18 or more months.
Moreover, the number of alternate styles in the Outfits that were obtainable in a battle pass may vary each time they arrive in the Item Shop. There is also no guarantee that a BP item or the Alt styles of some outfits will be available in the shop down the line.
EPIC Games has promised to inform players if they decide not to include a Fortnite Battle Pass item in the shop. Some of the Alt styles may also be sold separately.
According to EPIC Games, the recent change helps them in “investing in new and exciting battle pass rewards while enabling players down the road to also enjoy the content, including Outfits based on popular licensed characters.” The developers also mentioned that there won’t be any changes in the Fortnite Battle Pass, be it in its price or V-Bucks rewards.
The changes will take shape after the release of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4. Expect fan-favorite items that were previously locked in the battle pass to receive a warm welcome in the Item Shop.
