Dead Space, the survival horror game is planned for release on January 27, 2023
Developed by Motive Studio and released by Electronic Arts, Dead Space will be available for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. It is an updated version of the same-named video game from 2008, which was made by EA Redwood Shores. Since the release of Dead Space 3 in 2013, this is the first entry in the series.
About the Dead Space series
Dead Space: The Original was first released in 2008, and two direct sequels followed in 2011 and 2013, which fans thought deviated more and more from the original’s strengths. Due to its intricate, terrifying settings, Dead Space 2 was well appreciated. However, it leaned more heavily toward blockbuster action and introduced a forgotten multiplayer element. In addition to co-op, less horror, and more action, Dead Space 3 received harsh criticism for its inclusion of microtransactions that let users pay real money for better weapons and quicker construction. The first game in the series is still regarded by many fans as being the finest because of the downward trend.
About the remake
Motive Studios has devoted a lot of effort during the game’s development to highlighting the underlying processes at work in order to build upon what made the previous game so memorable. Thanks to the Frostbite engine, audio, mood, gameplay, and graphics all appear to have been carefully reviewed and improved.
Dead Space’s DLC includes weapons and outfits that helped the player do more damage, speed up their weaponry, and enhance their damage resistance as early as 2008. As the first Dead Space game in more than ten years, the remake will usher in a whole new gaming landscape where these kinds of business methods are closely scrutinised.
Additionally, Motive Studios has experienced this scrutiny more than other game creators because the game it worked on with DICE, Star Wars Battlefront 2, was at the center of one of the biggest scandals in the industry. Because of this, a lot of enthusiasts were concerned that Dead Space may be ruined by the same contemporary business techniques that nickel and dime gamers.
There won’t be any microtransactions in the remake, according to Motive Studios, who have made this clear time and time again. However, as the creators are already extending Dead Space’s lore and plot for the remake, this probably also indicates that there won’t be any additional story DLC or expansions in the future. The possibility of subsequently adding downloadable cosmetics exists, but considering the developer’s pre-release stance, it is quite improbable.
It is anticipated that the game will do well considering the degree of buzz and expectation around the remake, especially with the rise in popularity of the survival horror subgenre in recent years.
