Recently, HoYoverse unveiled another playable character for Genshin Impact, namely Mualani, who will be a part of one of future banners. She was among the characters featured in the recent teaser for the new map region, Natlan, which is arriving with the 5.0 update. Along with the new map region, one of the Genshin Impact 5.0 banners is likely to feature Mualani. Although there is still more than a month until the release of version 5.0, data miners have already revealed the kit, skills and more about the upcoming Genshin Impact character.
Genshin Impact Mualani Leaks – Kit & Skills
As per the leaks, Mualani will be a 5-star Hydro character with Catalyst as her weapon. Here’s a look at the rumors around Genshin Impact Mualani’s kit:
Genshin Impact Mualani Leaks – Active Skills
Normal Attack – Cooling Treatment
- Normal Attack – Mualani can perform up to 3 attacks that deal Hydro damage.
- Charged Attack – With Charged Attack, she consumes a specific amount of Stamina. This Stamina is then used to smack a ‘Pufferball’ into the air that deals AoE Hydro damage upon landing.
- Plunging Attack – Genshin Impact Mualani gathers the power of Hydro and plunges towards the ground from mid-air. It will damage all opponents in her path, dealing AoE Hydro damage upon impact with the ground.
Elemental Skill – Surfshark Wavebreaker
Mualani’s Elemental Skill lets her surf at any place, at any time and after using it, she will gain 60 ‘Nightsoul points’ and enter the ‘Nightsoul’s Blessing’ state.
Mualani’s ‘Nightsoul’s Blessing’ State
To enter Nightsoul’s Blessing state, she continuously consumes Nightsoul points. The state will end when the Nightsoul points are depleted or when she uses the skill again. For the uninitiated, Nightsoul’s Blessing has the following traits:
- Upon mounting the Sharky Surfboard, there will be an increase in the movement speed. She can move on water and in liquid Phlogiston while Nightsoul’s Blessing state is active. Additionally, she will take zero damage, while moving in liquid Phlogiston.
- In Nightsoul’s Blessing state, her Normal Attacks will be converted to Sharky’s Bites. These bites will deal Hydro damage, can also take place in mid-air, and are based on the character’s Max HP with the Nightsoul attribute. The damage dealt in the state will be considered Normal Attack damage.
- When Mualani makes contact with opponents in Nightsoul’s Blessing state, she applies “Marked as Prey” to them. She also gains one Wave Momentum stack (with Max three stacks).
Wave Momentum and Marked as Prey
Whenever Genshin Impact Mualani uses Sharky’s Bite, the damage dealt by her will be enhanced based on Wave Momentum stacks. When she has three stacks, a Normal Attack will use Sharky’s Surging Bite and will upscale her damage. It will cancel all following stacks.
Mualani can mark opponents as Prey. She will fire Shark Missiles at up to five nearby opponents that were marked as Prey. These missiles will deal damage to them, which will be equal to this Sharky’s Bite instance. It will clear their marks.
If more than one opponent is the target of Sharky’s Bite and Shark Missiles unleashed by Mualani, the DMG dealt by her will decrease. The maximum decrease will be 24% when Mualani targets at least 3 opponents.
Elemental Burst – Stormburst Shot
Genshin Impact Mualani can fire a ‘Super Shark Missile’ that can track opponents. It will track and deal AoE Hydro damage based on the character’s Max HP.

Night Realm’s Gift – Crests and Troughs
Once Mualani’s Nightsoul points are depleted, she can switch to consuming Phlogiston in order to maintain her Nightsoul’s Blessing state. In an area with Phlogiston Device(s) within Natlan, Mualani can use Nightsoul Transmission. Whenever the active character is sprinting, swimming, in a movement mode that has been a consequence of certain talents, or at a certain height in the air, switching to Mualani will trigger the following:
- Genshin Impact Mualani will enter the Nightsoul’s Blessing state and gain 40 Nightsoul points. It will also trigger Nightsoul Transmission every 10 seconds.
In addition to that, her Nightsoul point or Phlogiston consumption while moving on water during Nightsoul’s Blessing state will decrease to 25% in Natlan, while it is decreased to 65% when she is doing the same outside the said map region.
Heat-Resistant Freshwater Floater
Hitting an opponent with Sharky’s Surging Bite will generate a Floater nearby. After picking up the Floater, Mualani will restore 25 Nightsoul points. However, she can create only one sich Floater this way, during the single use of her Nightsoul’s Blessing state.
Natlan’s Greatest Guide
Mualani gains one stack of Wavechaser’s Exploits, whenever a nearby party member triggers a Nightsoul Burst. It will last for 20 seconds and there will be a maximum of three stacks. When Mualani uses Stormburst Shot, she will clear all such stacks and enhance the DMG by 20%/30%/40% of her Max HP.
