Highlights:
* Game of Thrones Author George R. R. Martin, who also co-wrote Elden Ring, hinted at a feature film/TV series adaptation of the game, without confirming it.
* The game’s director Hidetaka Miyazaki had previously talked about FromSoftware’s interests in bringing Elden Ring movie/TV or any other interpretation to life.
In the past few years, fans have seen multiple successful TV/Movie adaptations of popular video games, and Elden Ring might turn out to be another great addition to the list. Rumors about an adaptation are already making rounds on social media, while George R. R. Martin has dropped a massive hint in one of his recent blogs.
Martin cheekily mentioned an Elden Ring movie/TV adaptation, as he avoided confirming the same in his post, which reads as follows:
“Oh, and about those rumors you may have heard about a feature film or television series based on ELDEN RING… I have nothing to say. Not a word, nope, not a thing, I know nothing, you never heard a peep from me, mum mum mum. What rumor?”
As the rumors have neither been confirmed nor denied by Martin, fans can hope for the Elden Ring movie/TV series to become a reality one day. Interestingly, the idea of the adaptation was also teased by the game’s director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, recently. Here’s what he said about a potential Elden Ring movie/TV show:
The Game Director Hidetaka Miyazaki Recently Teased An Elden Ring Movie/TV Adaptation
In an exclusive interview with The Guardian, Miyazaki talked about the recent Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of Erdtree. During the interview, Miyazaki also his interests in another interpretation of Elden Ring, as he was quoted saying,
“I don’t see any reason to deny another interpretation or adaptation of Elden Ring, a movie, for example. But I don’t think myself, or FromSoftware, have the knowledge or ability to produce something in a different medium. So that’s where a very strong partner would come into play.”
Miyazaki also confirmed the presence of an interest in bringing a new interpretation, as FromSoftware is currently focused on “building trust and agreement.” If the creators are able to get a studio onboard for a movie or TV show, fans can expect another successful video game adaptation like Fallout or The Last of Us.
Coincidentally, Hidetaka Miyazaki’s collaborator on Elden Ring, George R. R. Martin, boasts experience working in showbiz, especially on Television. Martin is well-known as the author of the fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire adapted into HBO’s iconic Game of Thrones.
For those unaware, Martin and Miyazaki co-wrote for Elden Ring, for which they won ‘Nebula Award for Best Game Writing.’ GRRM provided the world-building for the fantasy action RPG (role-playing game). The base game was released in February 2022, while the DLC expansion arrived in June 2024.
