The second map win goes in vain for Global Esports as Vitality snatches the win
Global Esports is the only Indian Pacific partnered team that competed in the VCT LOCK//IN Sao Paulo. The team was up against Team Vitality, the EMEA-partnered team. It was a proud moment for the Indian Valorant and gaming community as Global Esports were up against popular teams on a global stage. It was their first participation though it didn’t come out to be fruitful. Team Vitality began with a strong showing and won the first game of the best of 3 series. SkRossi, with a good gameplay display, helped Global Esports to level the series with a win in the second game. But soon after, the show changed as Team Vitality snatched the victory by securing a win on the decider map.
A good best of 3 game series between the teams
The Indian Esports community was hyped up as Global Esports met against Team Vitality in VCT 2023 LOCK//IN São Paulo. Both the teams were up with their new rosters. The game began with the map ban phase, fans got to see Global Esports taking Split as their map pick for the first map, while Team Vitality’s map pick was Pearl for the second one. With no maps left, the decider map was the newly added Lotus.
Performance of SkRossi, the only Indian player in the GE lineup
SkRossi, aka Ganesh Gangadhar, was the only Indian in the group. He played a crucial role in Global Esports’ victory on the second map. He delivered a good performance along with Monyet and t3xture. His 4k with KAY/O helped his team to win 1 out of the 3-game series. Overall, his performance was satisfactory, as he accumulated 29 kills.
The matches –
The game didn’t go as expected by Global Esports after a good series between the two teams. Fans were heartbroken as the French team Vitality prevailed over Global Esports with a 2-1 win. It ended Global Esports’ journey in this tournament. However, Global Esports gave a tough fight. Let’s see what the games had in store.
Map 1: Split
The agents picked for the game on Split map. Global Esports seemed a bit lost, as their gameplay had a lot of flaws. The first half ended with a 3-9 score, but the game changed after the 15th round as Global Esports played a bit of scattered gameplay. The 19-year-old Twisten, Karel Ašenbrener, went on a rampage, picking up 23 kills and becoming the point of difference. Vitality walked away by winning the game with a 13-4.
Map 2: Pearl
After facing defeat in the first game, Global Esports looked more organised on Pearl. Global Esports picked two rounds lead in the starting itself. After that, Vitality got back the momentum. The first half ended in favour of Team Vitality as they made it 7-5. Every round had suspense, Global Esports took complete control in the 20th round as they went on a back-to-back, round win streak. SkRossi’s 4 kills in the final round helped Global Esports secure the win by 9-13.
Map 3: Lotus
After a good display in the second game, Global Esports performed well. They won back-to-back rounds at the start of the game on Lotus. Both eco and anti-eco rounds played by Global Esports were safe plays. But after the 7th round, Team Vitality returned on track again and picked up a lead of 8-4. t3xture was the one who survived in the last round against two Vitality players. Destrian picked up the final kill and secured Team Vitality’s win by 13-6.
Conclusion
With this, the Day 8 of the VCT LOCK//IN concluded with the Omega Bracket round of 32 actions. Twisten accumulated 60 kills across the 3 maps and bagged the MVP. Team Vitality ended Global Esports’ maiden VCT participation and made it to Round 16, where they will next face Levitian.
