Gokurakugai Chapter 22 Recap
After Utsuro’s interrogation, Alma and Tao retreat back to their office and start planning their next move. Elsewhere, some construction workers enter a creepy mansion and before they can even start working, their bodies fall to the ground as if crushed by something immensely heavy. The scene moves to Tao’s office, where a man talks about how two of his employees died horribly in a large haunted house. We learn that some years ago, the owner and all the servants of the house died mysteriously, and the house has been haunted ever since.
After he pays them and tells him how they died, Tao and Alma decide to check the place out since it seems to be the work of the Crushing Death Maga. When they reach the massive mansion, the Saragi Anti-Maga Organization meet one of their colleagues, Nei. The girl reveals that the house is hers, making her the heir of a millionaire. Nei says that she is too afraid to go in and sometimes just stands and looks at the house from the outside. Alma reveals that the Crushing Death Maga might be inside, prompting Nei to follow him and Tao.
Once in, the group splits up with Tao going upstairs and Alma inspecting the ground floor with Nei. A sudden sound terrifies the two, but it turns out to be a thief who was stealing some antiques from the house. When he runs away, Alma starts chasing after him, telling him to be careful about the dangers. However, the thief suddenly falls to the ground, his body crushed by an invisible force. Alma pulls out the Karmic Stake from his chest and tells Nei to find Tao, as the Maga has already arrived.
What To Expect From Gokurakugai Chapter 23
Fans are eagerly waiting for the Crushing Death Maga’s reveal in the next manga installment. As he is one of the most powerful Maga to exist under Yomi’s command, it will be extremely difficult for Tao and Alma to defeat him. However, Nei’s presence might turn things in the Maga hunters’ favor since she is related to the house and its original master. We will also learn Nei’s backstory and how she survived whatever killed the rest of the house’s occupants.
