After the Regular Season, Group Stage Day 2 actions are here
The League of Legends EMEA Championship Winter 2023 organised by Riot Games has now reached the Group Stage. The competition kicked off on the 21st of January and will continue through the 26th of February as it is divided into three phases: the Regular Season, the Group Stage, and the Playoffs. The competition is a part of the LEC’s ninth European League of Legends split where a total of the top 10 teams are seen in action and vying for the LEC championship. The competition is being held offline at LEC Studio in Berlin with a prize pool of €80,000. As it reached the Group Stage actions, 8 teams were drawn into two groups and the opening matches are now over.
Run-through of the opening fixtures from Group Stage
The group stage of LEC Winter 2023 commenced on 11th February with the opening fixtures. The top 8 teams from the Regular Season got themselves placed in the two groups where they played a GSL Format. All the matches that were played are of the Best of 3 game series and the top 2 teams that will secure the pole positions will head for the Playoffs. The 1st placed team will get themselves seeded in the Winners’ Final and the 2nd placed team will be seeded in the Losers Semifinal.

A total of 3 matches were played in the Group Stage, according to the Indian Standard Time(IST) Group A’s second match was played yesterday along with Group B’s opening fixtures. The first game was SK Gaming vs KOI from Group A. The last two games were played from Group B, first up was MAD Lions vs Astralis and the last game was G2 Esports vs Team BDS. SK Gaming vs KOI
(Bo3 score: 0-2)
- Game 1: SK Gaming picked Renekton, Maokai, Jayce, Xayah and Nautilus. KOI picked Gnar, Sejuani, Sylas, Sivir and Karma. The game ended after 27 minutes and 33 seconds with KOI winning the game.
- Game 2: SK Gaming picked Sion, Amumu, Azir, Caitlyn and Lux. KOI picked Aatrox, Sejuani, Sylas, Lucian and Nami. After 35 minutes and 37 seconds, KOI secured another win.
MAD Lions vs Astralis
(Bo3 score: 2-1)
- Game 1: The lineup for MAD Lions was K’Sante, Maokai, Azir, Lucian and Nami. Astralis picked Jax, Vi, Ryze, Ezreal and Karma. The game ended by 27 minutes and 32 seconds, with MAD Lions claiming the win.
- Game 2: MAD Lions’ lineup had Gragas, Vi, Ryze, Draven and Ashe. Astralis picked Jax, Jarvan IV, Sylas, Lucian and Nami. After 27 minutes and 10 seconds Astralis won the game.
- Game 3: This time K’Sante, Sejuani, Azir, Aphelios and Thresh were picked by MAD Lions. Astralis picked Jax, Vi, Karma, Cassiopeia and Twitch. After 29 minutes and 12 seconds, MAD Lions won the game.
G2 Esports vs Team BDS
(Bo3 score: 2-1)
- Game 1: G2 picked Jax, Lilia, Jayce, Kai’Sa and Nautilus. Team BDS picked Garen, Sejuani, Ryze, Zeri and Alistar. After 31 minutes and 3 seconds of gameplay, G2 Esports secured the win.
- Game 2: The lineup for G2 Esports this time included Jax, Bel’Veth, Sylas, Xayah and Nautilus. Team BDS picked Olaf, Elise, Azir, Zeri and Lulu. This game went on for 36 minutes and 26 seconds and Team BDS made it a win.
- Game 3: The decider game was up and G2 Esports picked Jax, Lilia, Jayce, Varus and Leona. Team BDS picked Renekton, Sejuani, Ryze, Caitlyn and Karma. It was a quick game of 22 minutes and 55 seconds and G2 Esports secured the win.
Group Standings
