The release date of GTA 6 and its content has been shrouded with mystery. Rockstar Games have been mum about the game’s progress since officially confirming that there will be a sequel to Grand Theft Auto 5. Nevertheless, leaks and rumours have given plenty of information on what to expect from the highly-anticipated RPG shooter.
In February 2022, Rockstar disclosed in a community update that “the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series” is in the works. Their efforts to downplay the reveal backfired, taking the gaming world by storm. Hackers targeted their system, and on September 18, gameplay footage was leaked on Twitter and other social media channels.
Recently, a voice clip featuring Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick was leaked on X. It hinted at a possible release date of October 24 for GTA 6, although some fans were convinced it was made using AI. Here is a transcription of the voice leak.
“The plans for the next Grand Theft Auto game are set, and we expect Rockstar Games to be one of our labels that are expected to launch a new title in Fiscal 2025, which would be the next Grand Theft Auto that is set to be launched in Fiscal 2025. October 24 to be precise, actually.”

Zelnick previously mentioned that Rockstar Games is looking forward to a good 2025 fiscal year by setting “creative benchmarks for the GTA series, our industry, and for all entertainment.” If GTA 6 turns out to be as good as its predecessor, we are looking at a possible future contender for Game of the Year.
GTA 6 Leaks & Rumors: What To Expect?
Over 90 images and gameplay clips were leaked online in September 2022. The most striking image was a police car plate with the name San Andreas illustrated, meaning that GTA 6 will seemingly occur in Vice City. Gamers will be pleased, given that the Miami-based map hasn’t appeared since VC’s release in 2002.
The early test footage shows that the players are either Jason or Lucia. They were seen standing near skyscrapers, and Jason even went into a strip club. GTA 6 will also have the usual over-the-shoulder third-person shooting with equipment and weapons such as handguns, smoke grenades, assault rifles, flashbangs, and even golf balls as in-game items.
Before the most recent voice leak, an insider stated that Rockstar Games planned to release GTA 6 during the holiday season in March 2024 or postpone it to 2025 for DLC content. This could mean an announcement about the game’s official release date could be made next month.
Grand Theft Auto 6 will primarily be available in consoles like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It could be made available for PS4 and Xbox One a few months after its release. According to multiple reports, GTA 6 is estimated to have a file size of 150 GB with a rumoured price range of $70.00 – $80.00, which includes downloadable content.
