Gege Akutami has written Jujutsu Kaisen into a corner he can’t get out of and his attempts have been getting repetitive and boring. Many Japanese and international fans have already expressed their disappointment and complaints about the current state of JJK. So how did Gege Akutami fail JJK? Let’s try to answer that below.

Gege Akutami Is Struggling With the Conclusion of Jujutsu Kaisen
JJK is on its final legs and Sukuna is at his peak- he’s full-powered as he was back in the Heian Era, if not even stronger due to his fight against Gojo who was the only one to push him to his limits. Gojo’s death came as a shock and garnered a lot of hate from the fans but it was unsurprising for those who knew Gege.
Gege had always shown his disdain for the character of Gojo- saying he’s too strong and steals everyone’s spotlight and so on. But now it’s as if Sukuna has replaced him and unlike Gojo, he Sukuna doesn’t have any redeeming qualities. The death of Gojo marked a major change in the series.
Since no one else was as strong as him, we had our group of heroes and allies tag-teaming to defeat Sukuna- most of them ended up dying in the process or getting severely fatally injured to the point they were sidelined and taken out of the story. And since then it’s been the same formula of random sorcerors joining the fight against Sukuna and ending up either dead or fatally injured.
Why JJK Fans Are Mad At Gege Akutami
Among these are fan-favorite characters like Maki, Kusakabe, Choso, Yuta and so on. And that’s not even considering the protagonist Yuji Itadori. Most of their fights serve no real plot purpose as they end up getting folded quick one way or another- which in turn undermines their characters and their strengths.
Sukuna is an impossible, insurmountable opponent and now Gege Akutami has no real way to close the fight and defeat the big bad satisfactorily. He can introduce as many complexities to his power system or new inventive ways to damage Sukuna but he’s still too strong and more experienced than all of them combined. He has thus written JJK into a corner.
