They have been striving to create titles that appeal to gamers, specifically Indians, portraying the landscape and culture of the subcontinent. The Palace on the Hill by Niku Games shows the pastoral life in rural India in all its beauty. Watch Out For These 7 Upcoming Indian Games
As we head to the final quarter of 2024, one can expect more Indian video games to be introduced in the coming months. Most of the major titles that have been created by Indian developers unfortunately don’t have a release date but they seem promising based on their trailers and visuals.

Indus Battle Royale is a shooting game that was earlier slated for the first quarter of 2024. Currently in the beta phase, it is expecting a full release by the end of the year. Indus gained significant attention following its reveal and subsequent tests. Players enter the virtual world of Virlok, fight to be the last person standing, while also witnessing the lush background and sci-fi inspired by the culture of India. There is an option to switch from TPP to FPP as well as multiple customizations in the form of weapon skins.

Sleuths will find Detective Dotson particularly amazing. Apart from the usual clue hunts, the game features a richly detailed Indian background and atmosphere. It is a story-driven adventure game with the main character being a master of disguise, solving different cases with the help of the player. Adding to the list of features is the OST which has been created by Nikhil Rao in collaboration with Detective Dotson.

In this slice-of-life experience, players control a young girl as she tries to understand herself on a deeper level. One of the most eagerly awaited Indian games is Project Madras. The open-world, action title is set in the city of Chennai (fka Madras), allowing the player to roam in popular landmarks such as Marina Beach and Mount Road. Tamilian culture gets importance in the detailed designs and depictions of the locations. Based on the trailer, the main character is a hitman of sorts, dominating the streets of Tamil Nadu.

Following the launch of Mercenary Battle Company: The Reapers, another action-loaded shooter is set for a release this year. Mechanical Fury pits players in a world full of hostile mechs. It is not a mindless shooting game though, because players need to strategically move around with their grappling hook. Mechanical Fury is inspired by Doom Eternal and Ghostrunner, blending the best of both to create one of the highly anticipated Indian video games.

In Mukti, players embark on an immersing first-person perspective adventure by controlling the character of Vikram Roy. He travels from the Sunderbans to the ruins of the Pala Dynasty to unravel many secrets. Despite being an ‘indie adventure’ on Steam, it also encompasses mystery and horror elements. Vikram is not the ideal protagonist as one may think as he experiences horrific visions that tell more about his past.

Requital is one of the few Indian games that has been greenlighted for a PlayStation 5 release. It is a 2D side-scrolling action platformer similar to the hit Nine Sols. Interestingly, instead of focusing on Indian mythology, Holy Cow Prod is busy designing Duat, the Egyptian underworld. The main character is a Zarah who battles demons, beasts, and even Gods in the mythology-based side-scrolling title.
