Fans of the wizarding world of Harry Potter got their hands on Hogwarts Legacy on February 10, 2023. The open-world adventure game, based on late to early 19th-century Hogwarts, is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam. It crossed the 15 million copies mark after just three months from its release and continues to grow in popularity.
Hogwarts Legacy is one of the top-selling games of 2023. It got dethroned momentarily by The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom but is back on top and is expected to consolidate the position after a couple of months. After gaining success in PS and Xbox platforms, the game will now be released on Nintendo Switch, rounding off a highly successful year for Avalanche Software.

According to the official Nintendo website, Hogwarts Legacy will be arriving on Switch on November 14, 2023. Pre-ordering the physical versions of the game from either Walmart, Amazon, Best Buy, or GameStop, will reward players with an exclusive Onyx Hippogriff Mount. The Standard Edition costs $59.99 while the Deluxe Edition costs $69.99 and above on some websites.

Why Is Hogwarts Legacy Releasing Late On Nintendo Switch?
On Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 12:30 AM GMT, the Game of the Year Awards will roll live from the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, California. The coveted GOTY prize will be up for the taking. It will take something special from Hogwarts Legacy to surpass games like Baldur’s Gate 3, Starfield, Zelda, and even upcoming games like Spider-Man 2.
The winners of the Game of the Year awards are determined by judges (90%) and fans (10%). The public vote is held via the official website and social media channels. As such, Hogwarts Legacy wants to make a blast on Nintendo Switch before the gaming ceremony. There are also rumors of a Chamber of Secrets DLC to be introduced later in the game but there has been no official confirmation.
Game Director Alan Tew mentioned that the team had been “heads down bringing [Hogwarts Legacy] to life,” and “there are no current plans for DLC.” They can only hope to increase sales by releasing the game on multiple platforms and gain the goodwill of fans by implementing bug fixes.
