The announced break is a personal break from Gege Akutami. There’s no official reasoning provided so we can only hope it’s not a health concern.

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 257 will likely show us more of Yuji’s supposed “awakening” as a Jujutsu sorcerer. We will also likely see the efforts of Maki and Choso come to fruition. There’s also a chance Sukuna is getting stronger every passing minute as he recovers from his fatigue so fingers crossed our heroes make it out alive. Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 256: Recap
In Chapter 256 of Jujutsu Kaisen, we see Yuji landing an insane Black Flash on Sukuna and it is hinted that this is Yuji’s “awakening”. It’s surmised that Yuji will master the Black Flash to the point it’ll be the downfall of the King of Curses. As Sukuna is cornered by Yuji, Choso preps a Supernova attack with his blood but Sukuna dodges it effortlessly.

Maki also intervenes by trying to stab Sukuna with her Cursed Weapon but Sukuna counters that with a Black Flash of his own. As he’s recovering more and more from his fatigue from his fight with Gojo, Sukuna uses more slashing attacks to counter his opponents.
