Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 is officially in production, almost eight months after its announcement. A continuation of the popular supernatural anime was disclosed after the broadcast of the Season 2 finale in Japan. Based on Gege Akutami’s original manga, JJK Season 3 is set to adapt the Culling Game Arc.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Production Begins: What To Expect In The Culling Game Arc?
On July 21, 2024, AnimeTV Japan revealed the exciting news that Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 is in production. It hyped the upcoming season by sharing visuals on its X account @animetv_jp. Although the visuals belonged to the previous season, the revelation had fans pumped up and the post gained a million views and over 30,000 likes within a few hours.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 anime will take off after the events in Shibuya. Satoru Gojo got sealed in the Prison Realm, while Kento Nanami and Nobara Kugisaki died battling Mahito. The villains have an upper hand going into the third season but Megumi Fushiguro and Yuji Itadori have an ace up their sleeve.
The Culling Game Arc will feature the heroes’ frantic effort to save Gojo. New characters are going to be introduced that will have a massive impact on the storyline. The Culling Game won’t begin the third season, though. It will initially focus on Itadori’s Extermination Arc which will be followed by the Perfect Preparation Arc, the latter setting up the stage for the sorcery battles in the Culling Games.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 will begin adapting the manga from Chapter 137 and presumably end at Chapter 221 which features the ending of the Culling Games. Season 2 covered 75 Chapters in 23 episodes. Although the amount of episodes in Season 3 hasn’t been officially disclosed, it could have more than 24 episodes, given that more than 80 Chapters need to be adapted
The most notable moment at the beginning of the Culling Game Arc in Jujutsu Kaisen is the Trial of Yuji Itadori. Yuji is trapped in the domain of Hiromi Higurama, a character who deserves its own Jujutsu Kaisen spin-off. Their battle is just one of the highlights of the arc.
