Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 117 Recap
Titled ‘What Says The Monster Within?’ the issue starts with the mysterious masked warrior taking Kafka’s consciousness to a battlefield. Kafka stands in the middle of thousands of soldiers who attack a massive Kaiju that stands before them. The protagonist notices that he also has a primitive weapon in his hands like the other soldiers. Built with Kaiju remains, these tools fused with the bodies of the users thanks to a parasitic monster.
But due to the lack of scientific understanding, these weapons are not only weak but also harm the person wielding them. Kafka is suddenly admonished by a man for not fighting and recognizes him as Hoshina’s ancestor, meaning his vision is from the Meireki era. The mysterious warrior tells him how many people lost their lives on that day. At first, they thought they had won, but everything changed when a different monster emerged from within its fallen body. They tried to fall back, but the Daikaiju slashed through all the soldiers in a few moments.
Even the strongest swordsman was mercilessly killed by the creature. In the dream, even Kafka gets slashed in half. The lives, homes, and families of all the warriors were taken away from them. Leaving behind nothing but a pile of bodies. The consciousness of all the dead soldiers felt guilt, sorrow, and powerlessness. From the regret of these warriors was born a tiny mysterious monster that later became the strength humanity needed to fight the Daikaiju.

The next installment will show us how the tiny monster later became powerful and fused with the famous fighter who defeated the Daikaiju. Back in the real world, Hoshina and Narumi are still fighting the re-awakened Daikaiju. Fans will find out whether they have been injured by the monster. Mina will try to wake up Kafka, who has been fatally wounded by the creature. Once he wakes up, he will probably be able to use the knowledge from his dream to save humanity.
