Summarization of LCK Spring 2023
LCK Spring 2023 is an offline tournament organised by Riot Games. It is the 17th LCK Season which is taking place at LoL Park in South Korea. A total of 10 teams are competing for a prize pool of ₩375,000,000. This tournament is the crowning event for the champion of Korea. It follows a two-stage format which included Group Stage and Playoffs. The tournament began on the 18th of January with the Group Stage actions which have now reached Week 3 Day 3. Yesterday, 3rd of February a total of 2 matches were played and the winners of the respective fixtures are Freecs and Gen.G Esports. The tournament will go on till the 19th of March and the Top 2 teams will qualify for the Mid-Season Invitational 2023.
Fixtures and format at a glance
As you all read, the tournament follows a two-stage format. Which included Group Stage and Playoffs.
– Group Stage: It is a Double Round Robin format where a total of 18 teams are seen in action. The matches that are played are Best of 3 games, Teams that will secure the top 6 positions will head for the Playoffs. 1st and 2nd-placed teams will get byes into the Playoffs Semifinals.
– Playoffs: It will have a Double Elimination bracket, with all matches of Best of 5 games. The top 2 will head for the Mid-Season Invitational 2023.
Group Stage fixtures detailed recaps
The Group Stage of the LCK Spring 2023 is split across a total of 9 weeks. Currently, Week 1-5 is ongoing and reached Week 3 Day 3. From the 1st of February, the Week 3 actions started and gave some interesting fixtures. Yesterday, two matches were played out and the matches that were witnessed are as followed –

KT Rolster vs Freecs

- Game 1: KT Rolster began with a lineup of Renekton, Sejuani, Syndra, Sivir and Yummi. Freecs roster included K’Sante, Maokai, Viktor, Zeri and Lulu. The game went on for around 34 minutes and 38 seconds and fans got to see Freecs winning the game.
- Game 2: After facing the defeat, KT Rolster’s champions were K’Sante, Sejuani, Kassadin, Sivir and Karma. Freecs picked Jax, Wukong, Tristana, Varus and Heimerdinger. The game went on for 25 minutes and 14 seconds where Freecs came out as the Winner.
Gen.G Esports vs SANDBOX Gaming
(Best of 3 Score: 2-1)
- Game 1: The Champion lineup for Gen.G Esports was Renekton, Maokai, Azir, Jhin and Heimerdinger. SANDBOX Gaming picked the champion lineup of Gnar, Sejuani, Sylas, Varus and Ashe. The game went on for 35 minutes and 34 seconds, SANDBOX Gaming began with a win in the Best of 3 game series.
- Game 2: The Champion lineup for the second game was Gwen, Vi, Azir, Sivir and Ashe. SANDBOX Gaming went ahead with K’Sante, Sejuani, Sylas, Varus and Kalista. The game went on for 36 minutes and 21 seconds and Gen.G Esports levelled the Best of 3 series.
- Game 3: Gen.G began with a champion lineup of Gnar, Vi, Ryze, Varus and Karma. SANDBOX Gaming picked Irelia, Wukong, Cassiopeia, Ashe and Heimerdinger. After a game of 32 minutes and 16 seconds, Gen.G Esports won the game and made it a 2-1 victory in the best of 3 games.
The MVPs were Envyy, Doran and Peyz.
