League of Legends server maintenance can be infuriating for hardcore ranked players. This maintenance comes in before a big update planned in late October. League of Legends players have been experiencing issues logging in and connecting to matches today.
Riot Games has announced that servers are down for maintenance across all platforms, including Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. This downtime is expected to last until October 18 at 5:00 AM PDT. League of Legends Server Maintenance: How to Check Status
There are a couple of ways players can check the server status during maintenance:
- The League of Legends status page shows real-time server status and any ongoing issues. This should indicate maintenance downtime.
- Logging into the League of Legends client will also show a notification if servers are down for maintenance. Trying to join a match will fail as well.
- Riot Games support Twitter account also provides updates on any server outages or maintenance.
When Will League of Legends Server Maintenance Be Over?
Based on Riot’s maintenance announcement, League of Legends servers are expected to be back online and fully operational on October 18 at around 5:00 AM PDT.
The maintenance period began earlier and is scheduled to last 3-6 hours, according to status posts. Servers will be inaccessible during this downtime.
This is a significantly longer maintenance period than normal patches, indicating major backend upgrades. Riot has noted this will improve stability and performance going forward.
During the downtime, players will be unable to log in, play matches, and access any online features. Progression will temporarily stop but do not worry as player data will be lost.
