In 2023, Little Nightmares 3 (stylized as Little Nightmares III) was officially unveiled at Gamescom, with Supermassive Games serving as the developer instead of Tarsier Studios. After a year, Supermassive Games and Bandai Namco Entertainment have dropped the ‘Friendship’ trailer at Gamescom 2024, unveiling a fascinating co-op horror gameplay experience. In the trailer, fans can witness Low and Alone’s teamwork to tackle different challenges, while trying to escape out of Nowhere.
An Unsettling-Yet-Beautiful Atmosphere Of Nowhere Showcased In Little Nightmares 3 Trailer
The one-minute and 37-second-long Little Nightmares 3 trailer showcased the mysterious 2.5D world of Nowhere, which is disturbing and breathtaking at the same time. Supermassive Games has assured to retain the appeal and tone of previous games of the Little Nightmares series. It is worth noting that the studio has also developed the Little Nightmares II enhanced editions for PC, PS5, and Xbox X/S series.
Little Nightmares and its 2021 sequel were single-player puzzle-platform horror adventure games. In contrast to the previous two games, Little Nightmares 3 brings two-player co-op gameplay to the series. Players will have a choice of opting for the co-operative gameplay or going with the single-player option with the second character being controlled by AI. The names of the two playable characters have been unveiled as Low and Alone.
The trailer also features some co-operative gameplay mechanics, which players will experience while playing as Low and Alone. Here’s what Wayne Garland, Little Nightmares III Game Director at Supermassive Games, was quoted saying about the playable characters and co-op gameplay:
“The relationship between the two characters is very strong, and we were keen to explore that bond in the game. It is even more relevant when we see them working together to escape the many threats that make up the Nowhere.”
Currently, Bandai Namco Entertainment is eyeing for a release in 2025 across various platforms. The third entry to the Little Nightmares will arrive on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC (Windows), Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Besides the new Little Nightmares game, many other announcements have been made at Gamescom 2024. Readers can also check out the new games release dates revealed during Gamescom 2024 Opening Night.
