Crystal Dynamics has officially confirmed ending their support for Marvel's Avengers later this year
Marvel’s Avengers developer Crystal Dynamics has formally announced on their page that they will stop providing support for the game. This declaration was made just a few hours after it became public knowledge that the studio intended to do so. This indicates that the developer will stop releasing any new game updates, fixes, or content.
About Marvel’s Avengers
Crystal Dynamics, in collaboration with Square Enix, released the action-adventure brawler game Marvel’s Avengers in September 2020, featuring Ms Marvel as the main protagonist. The game’s story revolves around Ms Marvel’s mission to bring the Avengers back together to take on various Marvel villains and the evil organization Advanced Idea Mechanics (AIM). Since its debut, Crystal Dynamics has released new content for the game, some of which received positive reviews. However, despite these efforts, the game’s popularity has been on a decline. The studio has now announced that they will be ending support for the game.
What does this mean for the players?
The reason for this decision is not specified but it is clear that it is a commercial decision and it does not mean that the players can’t continue playing the game or that the game is not playable.
Despite ending support for the game, players will still be able to continue playing Marvel’s Avengers in both single-player and multiplayer modes. The developer also plans to turn off the cosmetic marketplace on March 31st and the game will stop selling Credits. All purchased Credits will be converted to other resources and all cosmetic items will be made available for free. This means that players will still be able to play the game and continue to enjoy it, but new content updates, patches, and customer support will not be provided.
In essence, this indicates that the game’s November Update 2.7, which included the Cloning Lab Omega-Level Threat and the Winter Soldier as a playable hero, is now the last to be updated with new material.
Players can check a chart on Marvel’s Avengers website to discover which in-game resources they will be getting. Payments are divided into five categories that cover Credit balances between 1 and 24,999. Units, Fragments, Upgrade Modules, Polychoron, and DNA Keys will all be awarded to players. Players that have 25,000 Credits or more will get the most out of each of the game’s five resources. The free cosmetics were presented as a means to reward players for their support of the game in the announcement on Marvel’s Avengers website.
